managements job
seen a few posts about this.....make sure management sort out relevent paperwork or whatever for who does the 1/6 of d2d each week.this is not the responsibility of the employee.it is now included in your workload at a much lesser rate than what we previously got paid for why should we have the responsilbility of managing it too,i dont get paid enough for that.

Re: managements job
Its not rocket science you know, my duty is 472/6 = 78.6 items, therefore I have spoken with my most lovely floater and suggetsed 2 streets one is 74 delivery points , the other is 4 delivery points.
Easy peasy, floater will do those streets every week and I will do the rest as i see fit but in line with the following section of 2010
Whilst the planned workload will be spread across the 6 days, delivery employees will have the ability to manage the delivery of the items themselves on the proviso that all items are delivered within the week and the delivery specification is not affected.
I suggest WTLL is used, after all you there to learn as well as listen.

Re: managements job
Daz...it's easy peasy in your office but not all offices are the same.
When do you prep your D2D?
How much time is allocated to prep it?
Has your delivery span been adjusted to incorparate D2D into workload?
Do you have 20hr,22.5hr,25hr,27.5hr and 30hr part-timers?
Do you have any issues with presentation of D2D on a monday?
Do you have plans for late arrivals?
Do you have any plans for bank holiday weeks?
Do you have summer lapsing and how will this affect D2D?
Do you have any plans in place if cutting off affects D2D?
The list is not exhaustive.

Thats ok if your complete delivery is the same all round. Start-middle-end.Big Daz wrote:Its not rocket science you know, my duty is 472/6 = 78.6 items, therefore I have spoken with my most lovely floater and suggetsed 2 streets one is 74 delivery points , the other is 4 delivery points.

I start my delivery easy enough, but then I hit climbers until the end of that bag. Collect my next pouch and am on the climbers again. Collect next pouch and I am back on the easier stuff, but most have steps up/down to the doors.
My final pouch is the easiest of the delivery. Very little steps.
The floater or me will end up having to always do the d2d's for the climbers using your method BD
Think I am going to have to mark out my frame into 16% sections. Depending what day the floater is on my job, will determine which 16% the floater does.

I was referring to working out each 1/6th section, that would be easy peasy if done in a 30 min WTLL session.
However you have produced a good check list
(send it to HQ), Ive answered on the basis of the interim period rather than a revision putting DTD into workload.

When do you prep your D2D? Everybodys different in my D.O, some do them at the end of each day ready for the next day, some dont bother prepping them and take out a set at a time, some prep them once live mail is prepped intp frame.
How much time is allocated to prep it? That will be decided by the national powers that be and used in the revisions.
Has your delivery span been adjusted to incorparate D2D into workload? Duty time exists for increase of DTD for most duties, no need for span alteration as it would be paper exercise. There is no set span any more, revision in a few months will determine how long the new delivery duties are allocated on paper for delivery.
Do you have 20hr,22.5hr,25hr,27.5hr and 30hr part-timers? 1 X 20 hour man with a small delivery and he preps it himself which is why its small. Increased DTD may be a problem for 20/30 hour duties, I expect to struggle once autumn pressure arrives, should be ok for the summer.
Do you have any issues with presentation of D2D on a monday? Nope, never
Do you have plans for late arrivals? the most sensible option would to continue with 6 day span starting from day of arrival.
Do you have any plans for bank holiday weeks? the impact will be minor, deal with that in revision later in year. August BH is the only to worry about and by that time we will have a better idea of the average number of DTD for each duty thus enabling planning to take place.
Do you have summer lapsing and how will this affect D2D? Never had that, phase 3 all year round.
Do you have any plans in place if cutting off affects D2D? DOM can simply decide which part of the duty to be left, so that DTD get done
The list is not exhaustive.![]()

Try doing 1/6th of each pouch and have it all written out and placed in walklog. Use WTLL as the time you need to do it.
That is my solution for weight and volumetric issues,

That is a major issue for me as we already have WSM and prepping before the mail nullifies the savings on WSM.
Also we have many deliveries that are prepped for part-time staff and this will affect the amount of mail that can be prepped for them potentially impacting on the time they are ready to leave the office,if left until after the live mail then i don't really see how the part-timers will be able to do it.

They will need to be allocated time now Daz,that's what D2D into workload means.

Our duty times are pretty much spot on at the moment Daz and the "no set span" is a red herring as there are no new delivery methods so the 3.5hr span holds the field.
D2D into workload has to re-evaluate duty spans even at an interim phase otherwise you are just absorbing it.

Very funny BD, we don't have the time for a 30 minute WTLL because our duties are too long and the management know that.that would be easy peasy if done in a 30 min WTLL session.

@ fishtank:-
When do you prep your D2D? after you have prepped your mail
How much time is allocated to prep it? as long as it takes
Has your delivery span been adjusted to incorparate D2D into workload? this is not important - you deliver till your pouch off time, usually 15mins before finishing time
Do you have 20hr,22.5hr,25hr,27.5hr and 30hr part-timers? Yes
Do you have any issues with presentation of D2D on a monday? Explain?
Do you have plans for late arrivals? This does not concern you, you deliver a max of 16.6% each day, later arrivals are a doms worry not yours!
Do you have any plans for bank holiday weeks? same as above
Do you have summer lapsing and how will this affect D2D? if you can accomodate this into your daily workload then there is no argument
Do you have any plans in place if cutting off affects D2D? Thats not your concern, you work the hours paid for and if indoor working affects outdoor then this is a problem for your dom
You keep asking the same questions, why is this?

The above post is gold.
It tells you how to approach ALL the problems in your delivery office:
WORK YOUR CONTRACTED HOURS THEN CUT OFF OR CLAIM
Nothing else to be said.

Well that's probably because no-one,not Royal Mail, not the CWU and certainly not you can come up with any workable answers apart from the usual "it's your DOMs problem".Phantom wrote: You keep asking the same questions, why is this?
I would suggest if you want to leave everything to your DOM that is fine by me but judging by the posts on this forum over the last few years it is a solution that hasn't really worked so far.
Maybe you can put all our faith in this "New Relationship" but i have read the full agreement Phantom and if you believe that the same old rules for "cutting off" and working your hours will suffice i would suggest you wait and see what pegasus and the indoor work tool brings along first.
There are some on this forum in for a mighty shock.

Well i'm affraid it is up to your DOM to sort out and if you think otherwise then your are very stupid, there is only one rule for cutting and this will never change and cannot change unless the law is changed on forced overtime or contracts are re-written in which case you must sign this as an agreement but when time is up then your either cut off or do overtime the choice is yours NOT royal mails.fishtank wrote:Well that's probably because no-one,not Royal Mail, not the CWU and certainly not you can come up with any workable answers apart from the usual "it's your DOMs problem".Phantom wrote: You keep asking the same questions, why is this?

No one will be in for a shock, you're beginning to sound like all my past DOM's in saying that and each time they are just laughed at. So stop taking responsibility for a job you are not paid to do.
I've read the final D2D workload doc and it is just as i said, 16.6% or 1/6th of your walk however you want to call it per day for the days you work, to be prepped after your address mail and then delivered.
Royal mail will get a shock though when they realise how much time is going to be needed to prep and deliver these items on top of normal mail, it will make cutting off so much easier and our DOM knows this, does yours?
