Re: Hospital appointment entitlements ??
AFAIK RM have to honour your Hosptial appointments. A lot of the guys at work who have appointments end up going in and prepping their duties and then staying on for a bit before going off to their appointment. I've got one next month but its at 3.30pm
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Ring the hospital and see if they can change the appt to 2pm.............saves any confrontation with the a**holes and keeps your stress levels down, that's what I would do :)
Good luck with the 5yr thing....hope you're clear dude

I have been to the hospital today for a pre op for a operation im having next week. ( due to a job related injury may i add) RM are classing this day and my last hospital appointment as a sick day. Yes i know pathetic but thats what they are like, dont care, not bothered. we are just a number. will be off for a few months and glad to be away from the sgro for a while as the stress of work at the moment is doing my head in.

due to the fact you are going for your 5yr all clear, and it has been an illness that has affected your life for more than 12 months you should be covered under the disability act.
Check out the download in the download section,
it will tell you that hospital appointments should not be counted against you and that you should be given the time to attend these without penalty.
Hope this helps you

You may need to take in a copy of the DDA and explain exactly what it is to your DOM.gerardy wrote:due to the fact you are going for your 5yr all clear, and it has been an illness that has affected your life for more than 12 months you should be covered under the disability act.

He may never have heard of it before.
When you start talking he may put his fingers in his ears and start whistling. They think if they do this it alters reality.

yep - usually cancer sufferers fall under the jurisdiction of the disability discrimination act 1995.
show your appointment cards & ask your manager politely if he could check up with HR regarding people with cancer.
good luck, hope you get the all clear.

Royal Mail`s version of DDA stands for Don't Do Any.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Re: Hospital appointment entitlements ??
Hi im a rep in london. This is a common problem with managers esp those who have blown their budgets! You should by all accounts be given paid special leave. At the very least on showing your apppointment, you could do half your duty counting as a part abscence, which can appear on your sick record but does not count on the totting up procedure. Hope this helps.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Hi guys - just need to pick someones brains who has knowledge in this subject![]()
Next week is half term so im on late starts (6:15) like everyone else as there`s no need for FF, thats not really important, it just means im finishing later, probably around 1:30. I got a letter yesterday , hospital appointment for blood tests/xrays/and having my balls felt - its my big 5yr checkup for my cancer, then hopefully im all clear.
The thing is its at 12:45 and there`s no way on gods earth I can get done ,get home, get bathed, changed, and then get into town (25mins away) to get to hospital. Im off Saturday next week ,and seeing as its the first Saturday ive had off in like 3 years (the wifes taking advantage of this and booked herself on an exam marking course), and i`ll have my 3 kids so I cant swop my day off. Ive no lieu days left and the specialist inly works one friday each month, so cancelling the appt isnt an option as it could be months before I get another ,and as you can imagine I want this over with asap .
What am I entitled too ? Before I go in and get told no, or owing them time etc
Cheers

JCL Good luck
I had a hospital appointment this week for a MRI scan it was for 2pm (Accident related at work)
I took my appointment letter in and said I will do part of the walk only, which I did, never had to fill out any forms
but will see on next wages if they have docked me any pay
Hope all goes well
