Pulled by IB ? ?

Bloke in our office got caught leaving his van door unlocked by what he thinks is the IB . He cant remember who she was but she pulled out a RM ID badge .

2 questions .......... 1 . is the IB goin round with RM ID badges and 2 . What will happen to him ? He had a parcel on the floor passenger side .

A lot will depend on his disciplinary record. But it'll probably be dealt with as a serious disciplinary, even though it's such an easy mistake. I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone who's NEVER forgotten to lock a vehicle door, when they're in a hurry.

4 people I know were found to have had their doors unlocked and they were just given a telling off.

One of them came back and the guy from IB was sat in the van...

It is a serious offence not safe guarding the mail,in previous cases like this in my experience, they would normally inform your line manager and get a ticking off.However things are changing with most of our newish managers straight out of the Willie Walsh school of managing ,i am not so sure.All RM staff should have ID.

Yeah hes got a good record . Never done anything wrong . TBH hes not worrying about it as the IB woman said its not a BIG deal but his workmates are noisin him up tellin him all sorts of horror stories LOL .

There are other examples. But it's not in itself a sackable offence. So with a clean record, it's not likley to happen to your collegue. And based on what others have posted on here. He'll most likley get nothing worse than a telling off.

Three weeks ago oneo f our drivers got caught by IB not locking his van. He'd gone to a house with a parcel and left the door unlocked, keys in the ignition and registered letters on the passenger seat. When he got back to the van the door was locked. He started going through his pockets looking for the keys when he heard a voice behind him say "Looking for something?" He turned round to see the IB bloke with the van keys dangling from his fingers.

They let him sweat for 2 weeks before they decided not to sack him but to put him on "probation" for 2 years.

There is a guy at my DO who left his keys in the van. Came back and van had been nicked!

It was his last drop...so he says so there was no mail in it.

He still has his job but does a lot of walking these days.

we had a guy in our office who crashed a van in the car park
bad enough,except he took the keys without permission and doesnt even have a driving licence!

The people I know that were caught by IB had mail on the front seat, keys in the ignition and engine running. Slapped wrist.

One of our managers returning from a meeting saw a van parked just around the corner from the office empty with the engine still running
He pull over got in it and drove it back to the yard. Poor postie was worried sick and came running back to see the manager sitting on the bonnet.

Got a month driving ban

Mind you this was 11 years back they prob sack the poor sod now

We've moved people's vans before now when they've left them in the yard, engine running. Moved them around the corner into the car park and locked them up.

Hes not as worried as he was now . He said any hastle and he will tell them he wont drive for them anymore . ( he is primarily a postie but helps out driving )

Would this be a problem ? I think it would .
