Revision and union reps
well we are due a revision very soon ( next month or so)
asked today if we would have a full office repick
answer yes!
BUT union reps have negotiated that PHG duties are not included, also the rural that one of the union reps does is not to be included along with his buddies - all on 10 hour duties that don't actually take that long but shhhhhh( apparently they can opt out if their duty does not change) and a whole section is not being included because the manager 'likes his staff and does not want them to change' - this section also includes the other union rep and his mates and very easy walks
so the rest of us will be left to pick over the rest
FYI one of the reps that has been telling us all that we have to accept we have to work all our hours is in the car and on his way home for 11.30 most days and 9.30 on a sat - and yes his walk is one of the protected ones
Is this fair?
and what can we do
looking for practical ideas as our DOM is actually a decent bloke and I believe he will listen if we put it the right way

Re: Revision and union reps
That is true it is in the way backward deal.( apparently they can opt out if their duty does not change)
It is a specialist job,at my place there are 2 PHG duties going, but 4 are being interviewed as 4 can do the job.PHG duties are not included
But it's a tough one, specialist jobs are usually ring fenced but again i think something is in the way backward deal so that is why the interviews are going on.
Daz might be able to confirm this.
Regarding the rest of it
If you are all one post code/office then the whole post code/office should be looked at shouldn't it!
I never did get this, that section this section thing that comes up a lot on here, wtf is it?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The way foward has the callers office as a specialist duty, PHG aren't! Nothing else should be ringfenced.POSTMAN wrote:It is a specialist job,at my place there are 2 PHG duties going, but 4 are being interviewed as 4 can do the job.

Re: Revision and union reps
PHG ceased to exist a decade ago
If a duty does not incur major chabnge then the duty holder is entitled to keep it, this was established as part of the Way Forward/backward agreement. Deciding if a duty is or isnt major change can be tricky. All reps should get themselves a copy of the Martin Collins major change docment
RLE work is not specialist and ceased to be a decade ago.
Callers office work became specialist a decade ago, the way forward/backward list specialist work.
Duties with specialist work are chosen by skills, if two or more people are tied then the most senior gets the job.
Way Forward/backwards lists duties/work that are selection by skills

Re: Revision and union reps
'PHG' may not exist but the way forward does classify resourcing unit, DOM support, traffic office and callers’ office as specialist duties. In most offices one or all of these are incorporated into the 'PHG' duty. So it depends on exactly what the 'PHG' does in your office

what page does this come in on the agreement please? can this be done locally agreed or does the whole office have repick.
in my office the only duties not to go up for pick was the union reps (I WONDER WHY
) and the phg morning locker job.

Re: Revision and union reps
The Martin Collins document basically fleshes out the picking of duties section in the way forward.
