Transferring to another office?
Does anyone know how easy it is to transfer to another office?

If another office has a vacancy and you want to go there you can ask,But if your attendance is poor then you probably wont get in.
My mate was denied and told it was because he was on a stage 2 warning.

I heard this week funny enough that your sick record CAN NOT be taken into account whan you ask for a transfer,it's something to do with either the law human rights ect.
We are due one in our place and i casually mentioned it.Might be best to get it confirmed higher up though.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I've got a recent copy of the 'transfer application pack' right here, it's a Royal Mail one because they couldn't find a parcelforce one 
Anyway under policy, point 14 says - 'No employee will be eligible for transfer if they have a live warning that has been issued for conduct or attendance. Once a warning has expired they regain their eligibility'.
My manager also took great joy in stressing the point as he handed it to me. The pr*ck.

Yes its correct.Ive been on transfer for 3 years and put in re-requsets as they "disappear" from time to time and the stage warning or a conduct code bit is right.Ive been told,I can only transfer if I drop to 25 hours.Ive also been told no transfers into or out of area.Now wether that means postcode area or district area I dont know.I want to go outside my district.Even with all the needs I have to transfer,Ive got nowhere.Forget the union/h.r and everyother avenue.Ive tried them all and Im now looking to leave the job entirely.the_damned wrote:I've got a recent copy of the 'transfer application pack' right here, it's a Royal Mail one because they couldn't find a parcelforce one

Same here , we have a delivery office within walking distance of our house,(me and the missus work for Royal Mail) ,but work at an office 10 miles away ..Ive been told,I can only transfer if I drop to 25 hours.
We have both put in for a transfer but were told that it would be reduced hours so we would end up worse off so we gave up,so much for Royal Mails green policies.

Was told by a manager some weeks ago that anyone transfering to another office would have their hours cut to 25 and they'd LOSE ALL SENIORITY. Surely that last bit can't be right?

I've transferred before and maintained seniority.
As for how easy it is to get a transfer, it's pot luck. Fill in the transfer application form, and also try ringing the DOM of the office you want to go to, to see if anything is available.

I am filling in my transfer form now. At the top I have to fill in what my 'Grade' and 'Function' are. What the hell are those supposed to be??

You also have to be in the job for over a year before a transfer can take place as well as the stage and conduct bit.Like another poster here Im a distance from my office,about the same mileage,28 miles,been on transfer for 2 and a half years,and been told the 25hr thing and no transfers in or out of area.I have more chance of winning the euromillions jackpot.
