CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT WE ARE TO DO IF A MANAGER AT A DELIVERY OFFICE ASK'S
ONE OF THE DRIVERS TO GO TO A MAIL CENTRE SAY ON THURSDAY 26TH TO PICK UP MAIL,
WHEN HE GETS THERE, HE WILL NOT CROSS THE PICKET LINE SO GOES BACK EMPTY,

HE THEN GETS DISMISSED AND WE ALL END UP ON UNOFFICAL STRIKE????

He goes to the mail centre and picks the mail up.

They are having their industrial action on the Thursday and you'll be having yours on the Saturday.

Your reps should be telling staff that pickets are picketting their office and staff, not staff from other offices, whose official day of action is still to come.

I for one am not happy to have to cross a picket line, but thats the position our HQ have put upon us, and I understand that refusing to cross a picket line will only escalate this strike, a position I believe would not be good for this union.

I for one am not happy to have to cross a picket line, but thats the position our HQ have put upon us, and I understand that refusing to cross a picket line will only escalate this strike, a position I believe would not be good for this union.

He would be complying with a legal instruction in doing his regular duty - however if for instance my delivery office is quiet as a result of IA elsewhere can we be required to cross a picket to fill duties in an area on strike for that day, working "as directed". Would we have a choice of virtually scabbing against our will or refusing to cross the line and being stopped pay for that period, or worse still being suspended. I have asked our rep to look at the option of doing diverted work rather than having to cross a colleagues picket as it would seem the lesser of two evils. Our self discipline will be crucial over the next two to three weeks as I feel RM may force us to confront each other for their benefit.

I must admit I am losing the will to live, I hear one thing and then another, at the moment I f***ing hate our own HQ for putting us in this situation, I understand we need to maximise the disruption without losing too much pay, but please, this action raises more questions than answers, we're told to be disciplined by our HQ, but that aint easy when people who have never crossed a picket line in their lives, are telling me their not going to either, I asked someone at HQ if we could issue letters to our members who are asked to cross picket lines, to inform those on the picket lines that this member is only doing their job and have had or are gonna be taking their day of action soon, only be to told NO, coz it would be classed as discrimination???
