Part privatisation is the first step towards full privatisation. I for one will not go on strike to stop it. It will happen anyway. The last strike got us a crappy deal. We have a national union which is left to sort things out at LOCAL LEVEL?????? I am still in the union and always will be. I have the utmost respect for union reps on the shop floor. As for their leaders my opinion is best kept to myself as not to offend. We were and always will be sold down the river. If Mr Hayes and Mr ward want to fight this then fine by me. Let's see if they will man the gates on no pay, while their kids go short. The wole damn thing has got too political and the only ones that lose out are the posties. You could say that a lot of customers are losing out aswell because of a poorer and later service. I for one and many other posties lost money trying to stop this from happening. If they want to sell it and put the final nail in the coffin then so be it. Let cameron and clegg take the blame for its demise instead of the so called "striking posties". RIP Royal Mail .........will anything in britain still be british in a couple of years. I think not. Rant over :so there

well said sanyo - its another end of an era looming i think ?? how do people expect people to work and survive when jobs/workforces are being cut ? still its out of our hands and as for strike action i feel very let down with our union and we have lost money striking to lose more money ?? so as usual its a lose/lose case ? - best advice DONT listen to the press etc WAIT and SEE what happens then decide on a job change but in meantime if a better job offer pops up TAKE IT :Very Happy

Lets not assume there will be a strike, there is no legal protection for us as the strike is not a trade dispute with the employer.

The NEC wants to have a campaign not a strike , there is no motion before conference from the NEC for a strike ballot only a campaign.

Hope it goes better than do your job properly, early Saturday, shairs that never were, pensions rip off. Oh and lets not forget Royal Mail not for Sale! Sorry thats back again isnt it! :d'oh!. NO EM AT CONFERENCE IS GOING TO SAVE THIS ONE BECAUSE BOTH CONDEM and the FAT CATS want some action and cash from RM the only point in question is how little the CONDEMS will take for our skins and as its their mates that gain it will be very cheap and we as tax payers will take up the TOXIC side of RM. Conference has Two choices, make a stand or give up there is no in-between!

What direction will a campaign take?
Barring maybe a hundred or so backbench Labour MPs(and i wouldn't trust half of them) and the green everybody else wants to see RM sold off in some capacity.
So where do you draw your line in the sand? partial sell off....50%?
I don't think in my opinion the membership can be a*sed with token campaigns just to make those at the top feel a little less guilty.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I think its a lost cause and im concerned about how much money is going to be spent from the political fund on this campaign.

It needs to be effective but cheap, lot of contacting CONDEM MP's for those of us who have one of them as our MP.

The interesting dimension is Pat McFadden who didnt just toe the company line on a sell off but fully belived in it and supported it. As he is shadow buissness sec of state how on earth can he oppose on behalf of Labour and be credible, the man needs replacing ASAP.

Yeah thats sounds great in theory. But when the campaign fails, we will be asked to strike.
