When is the agreement not an agreement ? Help

Post by music4essex »

We had a WTL this morning and our Dim DoM :arrrghhh said that we are to lapse a duty due to health retirement because Figuers are down,(funny but packets are up) my question was that we should be lapsing and budget should not come into it

His reply that the agreement has not been agreed locally and we are still waiting for the area meeting to go ahead.
When the D2D issue came up and he was informed that 7th june was the date last week again he said nothing has been agreed :whistle

Then when the Cars on delivery came up he said that anyone who uses their car can get a form off him so they can carry on useing the car, my reply was it states in the agreement cars are to be banned, again he quoted that the agreement has not been agreed.

It seems that they have a different interpretation of the agreement that we see.

Is there any part of the agreement that I can take in to show this muppet

BTW Our Rep was going into a meeting with him after I left, but just wanted your opinions

Your Manager might be referring to this section:
Attendance Patterns and Duty Structures
It is jointly recognised that the end product of duty revisions and their successful deployment are paramount to the success of this agreement, employee and customer satisfaction and the future success of Royal Mail. This will be achieved where duty structures and attendance patterns are innovative and meet the aspirations and needs of both employees and the company. Both parties accept that attendance patterns and duty structures must efficiently and cost effectively align hours to workload, meet the delivery specification and USO, and provide a real incentive for change. In addition to this both parties re-affirm their commitment to a maximum 5 day week attendance/duty pattern for all employees.
Whilst the emphasis will be on local parties to develop and agree duty structures and attendance patterns that meet the requirements above and remain consistent with all aspects of this agreement; a menu of options has been provided nationally to enable constructive, structured and progressive talks to take place locally that will assist in bringing this to fruition. Units are also encouraged to develop more innovative and imaginative attendance patterns fully utilising the available workload, and any options that deliver the requirements above and below.

Best practice in this area will be jointly discussed and shared at regional and national level and will be used as a source of information to assist others.

Although, I think it's probably wishful thinking on his part, if he thinks that, that exempts him from following the agreement.

But there's no way he can get out of this!:
All delivery revisions will be planned on the basis of no use of private cars. Private cars on delivery will cease upon the deployment of a Delivery Methods revision in a unit.
Individuals will always be trained on the correct use of equipment prior to use. This will also apply to the introduction of and best use of new technology on delivery routes e.g. PDA, Telemetry.
*Car Derived Vans (CDVs) / Shared Van delivery Routes
Guidelines have been developed with input from the CWU and are available to support Managers and CWU reps with advice and direction during the planning and introduction of local delivery methods revisions. Any future updates to guidelines will be developed with input from the CWU prior to being issued.

Thanks Andy

The thing is we are not yet at the point of a delivery revision, we are in the throes of just doing WS( and this is not going right ) or does this come under the new agreement, our dom seems to think he is not to abide by it and can go on his merry way like he did last year, lapsing duties but a few of us mainly me seems to be argueing this.

I was not in favour of the agreement but I am trying to use it for some little benefit to us ( Does this make sense)

Thanks for the car bit will copy this off and take in

This agreement is akin to the Tory/Lib Dem Pact. Give someone a little power sharing and they will eventually tear tooth and nail from each other. Can you honestly see royal Mail and CWU in bed with each other in the long term. Royal Mail are the dominant force as are the Tories and they will not let their bed partners have any meaningful say in what happens. Managers only want an easy life and this agreement is far too complicated for them to even read it let alone carry out the substance of it.

I'm not sure if there's anything useful in it about the lapsing then. Hopefully one of the Reps on here will be able to help.

Yes, it makes perfect sense to try to use the agreement to our advantage, even if we've voted against it.

Lapsing/absorbing is still in the mix 'If work hours allow'

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
