Hi. Long time lerker, finally need some advice.

I am looking to move to Manchester from north Lancashire, and I am after a transfer, hopefully. Just looking for details on Manchester DO's, not sure where they are based. Looking to be in south Mancs hopefully, also if anyone knows what the staffing levels are like there? What I mean is I have looked on RM jobs, but according to them the nearest vacancy is Huddersfield. I am on a part time 25hr contract. What is the procedure for transfers. Any help would be great.

Thanks for the list. Blimey!! I told the DOM today that I was wanting to be transferred. Time is of the essence as I have to be out of my current house by the start of June. So I need to look for somewhere else, but cant really until I know where I could be working. DOm was going to print off a form for me to fill in, but the thing would'nt print off. Typical!!!! So don't know whether to find somewhere now, then hope for a job near by. I am looking central-ish mancs, just concerned about getting to work early if not walkable. What time to buses start running in manchester?? Thanks for the help peeps.

WA14 is nearer Manchester... the others are all out towards Warrington and that's a bit far!

I grew up in the Altrincham district and the M/SK postcodes are nearer than the WA ones by far (apart from WA14 of course... which also includes WA15)

I work at the Altrincham DO and we had alot of transfers work here due to RM not having any availabilities anywhere else. Two come from 7 miles away and 1 over 20 miles away due to the lack of positions in the whole area and we always seem to be short of staff.

Interesting. I saw some positions on the RM jobs site, but they have dissapeared, and I aint heard nowt. They were for central mancs, one of the DO's on my list too. Just have to wait and see. Thanks for the info though.

Job Description
A key role in with responsibility for the effective deployment of World Class Mail – People Development techniques into the Operational Management Team. World Class Mail is a comprehensive system for improving safety, quality, productivity, and reducing breakdowns.

This role requires extensive learning about World Class Mail techniques in a short period of time. The successful candidate must be willing to commit to personal study to understand the specific and detailed techniques used.

As part of the World Class Mail Manager’s team, the People Development Manager is the Unit expert on teaching World Class methods.

The main purpose of this role is to:
· Specify and support the structured development of the Unit Manager and Shift Managers on World Class Mail tools and methods.
· Build a prioritised training plan for the Unit, from the analysis of waste and losses and stratification due to lack of knowledge, skills gaps, and human errors.
· Develop and support targeted education and training with the management team, evaluate the benefit, and continuously improve training material.
· Build at local level an Education & Training database and share Good Practise nationally with other People Development Pillar Leaders
· Develop in partnership with regional HR, the supporting mechanisms to systematically manage people from recruitment to retirement.
· Commit to the People Development World
