Getting made up to full time.

Post by curryisforlife »

My contract is currently 38 hours 24 minutes. I would like this to be increased to 40 hours. The main reason being I do a 40 hour round and consantly have to fight the DOM for the 1 hour 36 mins. Plus the usual, holiday pay issue etc. There are soon to be 6 x 24 hours vacancies in our office. Our rep hinted thet one of these 24 hour vacancies would be split to increase peoples jobs to full time but is not sure. Does anyone know if this is possible? Will it be allowed? Can we force the DOM to do this? Thanks.

The FT contract is dropping to 39 hours,so straight away you have a difference of 36 minutes
you cant force the dom to do anything with those duties
have you asked about getting your contract changed?

Can't make my mind up if that's tounge in cheek or not but anyway, I know the contracts are changing to 39 hours but the question is when? I've heard it could be as long as 2 years. In the meantime I want to stop the bloody armwrestling for my o/t every week.
I have asked about having my contract changed and he (DOM) said he'll change it if I agree to a 7 o'clock start. His theory is I won't book as much 'cos I won't be waiting for the sequenced mail. I have to admit he's got a point, we do sit around some mornings waiting for it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"I want to stop the bloody armwrestling for my o/t every week." - get a stack of the docket sheets and fill them out for a month at a time in advance that's what I did and then didn't have to think about it each day. :Very Happy
