Career break??

Post by Si67 »

Im looking to get out of Royalmail but the job ive got in mind requires 6 weeks training and a test at the end of the six weeks, fail the test and thats it!! So... I remember years ago a friend of mine (postie) was in simular circumstances but was offered a career break up to 6 months, which meant his duty was left open for him for up to six months (not paid obviously) and if all went wrong he had a job to return to! Does anyone Know if this is still available to employees?? Really need a straight answer!

I wouldnt recommend telling HR its for another job
something like visiting family abroad for an extended period would probably work better

well we had one guy in our office just back from a 6 month one
he went abroad to spend time with a new partner from that country
think about it,why should RM give you time off to find a new job?
same goes for stuff like taking a break to take a course,if its not for/helping RM they why would they allow it?
this is RM remember ;)
