Yes, this could cause major problems for both you and your friend. Going back to the days of second deliveries, some guys used to swap a handful of letters so they would finish off nearer their own homes. because they had not notified the Managment, they lost their jobs. If mail goes missing etc, who do you think would get the blame?

Doesn't matter,if i pay somebody to do something for me he/she has to pay tax on those earnings.
It doesn't matter whether i have already paid tax when i earned it.

If the postie is looking to get away before his normal finishing time he could end up being coded, whatever the circumstances, with 'abandonment of duty'. If you speak with the DOM and he rejects the proposal, and you continue, there is the risk of you both being coded as he might (a big might!) just take drag himself away from his precious cup of coffee and check.

Highly unlikely that a DOM would be around so late on a Saturday I know, but there is always one looking for brownie points from the DSM

This sort of thing happens when someone wants half a sat off when they want to get away early for footie. Its always passed by the manager and he his fine about as long as he knows whats going on.

I think as long as the post is getting delivered and you let your DOM know what's happening it should be ok. As far as he's concerned he's not paying out more for ot and the run is getting done.

A while back i paid one fella to do an hours work and four others took out bundles for me for free, told the manager and i had to record who was doing what and get them to sign for the part of the duty they were covering. It was a bit long winded but other than that it was no problem and the manager needed to know who was doing what in case of IB and problems with those parts of the duty on that day.
