Looking at the various posts on the forum, one thing that sticks out,is the unfair treatment of our part timers. If we look at the history of the recent part timers,we would have to go back to last year,(maybe the year before). What happened was the 40 hour vacancies were filled(executivley) by the business, with part time.
The idea was that X=IPS meant X=prepping walks. They used a system(Indoor Workload Tool),in which had terrible flawed parameters. With the limited delivery spans,it was fed more indoor work. However,(and this is weird),priority was given to "absorbed" walks by the supervisors,(because they do not want to a) perform the absorption themselves b) they cannot pay out any hours).
There-fore the last on the list was the part timer who,(in theory) is meant to come in,bag up,and go.This was not the case,as mentioned above. If you go to your bookroom and check your staff's aggregates,(this is the hours paid on overtime). If your part timers are not over their contracted hours, chances are that they are working for free,or ,(and this is a minority),are working just their hours.
If they are claiming overtime and getting paid, you can be sure it is 10 hours plus.There-fore they are not part time. However the saving made off them is the holiday and sick,(in which is pro rata).
If you are a part timer and reading this, you need to some things before the reps start to get to work on the geo route,(with ACAS).
Join the union,(I know there is critisism of them at the moment, but looking at the political climate, and the timing of this new agreement,it is probably more prudent if you did!)
PM me with the name of your branch.I will then give you your area reps email.Get your email sent in to him, informing him of your workload on a daily basis!!
HQ need this information as there are weekly meetings with the business and the CWU.Anything that "flags" is getting addressed. You also need to also inform your rep too.Chances are if you are reading this from a weak office you might not have a rep or he is not trained.Think about it...he might need help too!!

Re: Part Timers
I'm part time, done over good and proper but I'm already and still in the union. Despite the major flaws, I'd still rather have the backing in case anything goes wrong at work (although, with my intense paranoia that I'm going to get fired for not doing something properly, it's highly unlikely!).
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?
