how things have changed,i can't believe the amount of o/t i used to do,i regularly got £100+ S/A lump sum payments,got my latest one today,£2.13p!!! must say though quality of life as improved loads!!

We get this every year and i'm fecked why.
I know it's because we have done SA,i only do it at XMAS but why do we get it,what is it?How is it worked out?

It is a payment for when you are not leave an can not do SA. It is based on the previous years average SA, although it doesn't seem as simple as just an average. I can't work out exactly how it is calculated.

It is just "averaged".When Scheduled Attendance came with the "Way Forward",the idea was that this payment was a supplement to cover your holidays and Bank Holidays.The SA is actually contracted,and done from last year.The more you signed for the more the supplement.Twice a year too.

Can anybody explain in very simple terms just how this lump sum is calculated?
Ive done an average of 4 hrs S.A. a week for the last 12 months yet got only £52, i realise i'll get another lump sum in another 6 months but i'm assuming this will be just as pathetic, do these figures sound right to anyone else?

if i remember right when we had the way forward agreement we had a wage rise on basic pay and overtime but not on S/A,this payment is something to do with the difference between O/T and S/A. if you check your wages you'll see theres virtually no difference between O/T and S/A nowadays,basically thats why i stopped doing it,why sign up for something you guarantee you'll do,when you can pick and chose O/T when it suits you for the same rate of pay,plus this must be the only union in history who negotiated a deal that pays less the more you do!!!! ( ten hour O/T rule)

Might it be 5% of your SA payments, and meant to compensate for not having time off for leave when working SA, or something like that ?
