Please forgive the hijack
Ive an atos related query!
I was 3 days off work with a badly swollen knee and phoning in on the 3rd day.
My manager told me he was contacting atos and i should expect a phonecall
from them!
does this sound like bullying/trying to intimidate me back to work?
i actually have no fear of atos as my doctor has advised me to take a week off/prescription for anti inflammatory drugs etc.
by the way Ive no history of sickness/ absence to prompt this.

Not really chunk. Had this with a knee injury myself. I think due to the nature of the job, where there's a knee injury they like to cover their own backs.

I had a few days off with my knee, and was awaiting physiotherapy and had to go thru an ATOS assessment, was a waste of time and nothing to worry about

I'm actually looking forward to ATOS! As I think they cant contradict my doc. and they could even be usefull if brought onside.
but surely they need my consent re consulting me and my doc .
its the whole timing issue ie ill on Monday ,ill on Tuesday, then Wednesday 6.00am threatened/told i had been referred.
I think your right that its normal to invoke atos but if my doc says 4 days to a week off my manager has no business trying to use it as a stick to beat me with on the third day.

I don't want to alarm you Chunk. But ATOS regularly override GPs, and even Specialists. I suggest you click on the link that Fluffy provided, as it's mostly about somneone who had a similar situation.

Aparently, he suffered a knee injury, and was told to stay off work. ATOS "assessed" him, and decided he was faking it (he has a copy of the report saying that). So he was put back on his normal duty, and ended up in Hospital, needing an operation, because of the state of his knee. He's currently fighting through the Courts, to have action taken against ATOS for their negligence!

No it sounds like a employer caring about it`s employees!
That is what the arsewipes will claim...don`t you know that working when you are ill is good for you?

Let me tell you how the telephone call will go like:
Atos Drone:Good Morning I`m calling From Atos Healthcare about a business referral from your Manger a Mr Knobhead from Royal Mail.
You:Oh yeah mr knobhead said you`d call.
Atos Drone:Now you`ve been off work for a few days,have you visited the Doctor?
You:Yes,and he said I must take a week off and has prescribed anti inflammatory drugs.
Atos Drone: Are you able to walk upstairs or do any housework or make yourself a cup of tea or sandwich etc?
You:Err well yeah but not without pain.
Atos Drone:Well if I was to suggest that your boss could allow you back to work to do `light`duties,how would you feel about it?
You: well err,the doctor said to rest.
Atos Drone:Well you wouldn`t be doing anything to strenuous,and you`d be sat down.....pressure pressure pressure blah blah blah.
You:Well ok if I`m just going to be sat at a desk for a few WEEKS.
Atos Drone:Oh yes it will be for a few weeks blah blah blah.

You then go back to work on `light duties`,they might even do a proper rehab plan
Mr Kobhead or one of his pussies comes upto you and says "We are putting you back on your walk next week"
You:Eh I was told it was a few weeks
Mr Knobhead or pussy.THE BUSINESS CAN`T AFFORD TO PAY FOR SOMEBODY ELSE TO DO YOUR WALK.
You go back to work on your delivery....a week,a month,six months,a year later your leg/illness whatever returns.
You go off again,same routine Atos gets in touch again repeat until you are sacked.
Atossser the occupational healthcare experts who `care`.w*****s.

ATOS are a disgrace. didn't want to know about getting in touch with my consultant merely made a diagnosis after a 15 minute phone call which totally contradicted my gp and consultants

You could try demanding to see a proper Doctor in person. I managed to do that, the last time I had to see them, and it was a completely different experience. It was obvious, early on, that he knew what he was talking about. I really couldn't fault him. The previous time. I made the mistake of having a phone consultation (I didn't know I had a chioce at the time), and they made my condition much worse!

Royal Mail extends occupational health contract with Atos Healthcare

Royal Mail has extended its occupational health (OH) and welfare services contract with Atos Healthcare for another three years.
Atos Healthcare has been delivering OH services to the organisation's 185,000 employees since 2002, where it has helped to reduce absenteeism in the Royal Mail letters business.
The new contract incorporates a risk-reward model, with Atos Healthcare being incentivised to help Royal Mail further cut staff absence.Atos Healthcare will deliver a full range of services, including a round-the-clock employee assistance programme, sickness absence management, pre-employment screening, driver medicals, health screening, vaccinations service, and progammes to educate and inform staff about health-related issues.
Steve Boorman, director of corporate and social responsibility at Royal Mail, said: "The co-operative and collaborative way the two organisations have worked together to make improvements has been a particular success of the current contract.
"We will continue to set high targets for Atos Healthcare to remain competitive and achieve our business objectives," he added.

I dont know all the facts about ATOS like how long they have worked for DWP but they really are shite at their job

Ive never known there be so many lazy usless fakers claiming sickness benefit...so if a fat old cow with a bad back, 6 kids and a lazy husband with alcohol problems can pass the fitness challenge and be seen as unemployable it should be a breeze for genuine workers with full medical reports,doctors/hospital notes ,proof of operations etc etc to be seen as unemployable too....SEEMS NOT !!! god this whole system sucks


PLEASE Cameron if you do one thing good please sort out the benefits system and start looking after the workers ..it really makes my blood boil

ATOS cannot force you back to work. It would be their word against a medically trained doctor. They can tell your employer what they think, but if your doctor says 4 weeks off work, then 4 weeks it is. Are you getting any further help for your knee chunk? Awaiting physiotherapy perhaps? Anything like that? These are all things that can stall the procedure.

When ATOS called me with regards to my knee, I told them I was sticking to my doctors advice until I had seen the physio and that was the end of the call. They then called me once a week to see how the physio was going.

Was only once I was back at work they managed to screw it all up and told my boss something entirely different from what we were talking about on the phone

heres a question who pays atos staffs wages is it royal mail. would like to put a wage on that they would have you in on light duties

No experience personally but guy in my office spoke to ATOS who then made an appointment with him to attend
with assessor at local mail centre, it is for 10:40 am. D/o informed D.O.M. who promptly told him he could not go
due to D.O.M. not being able to cover him from the office although he is on light duties and is not on delivery.
D.O.M. has informed him to reorganise appointment for PM. in his own time.
D/o informed ATOS who said he could not have an afternoon spot due to their own staffing problems.
It's like a carry on film.
