It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

And nairy a word presumably mentioned about D2D.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

One would hope with a significant 12 months behind us since the last AGM for members of the CWU as a whole that this year there will be a considerable turnout for the South East London Postal and Counter Branch AGM 2014, should it be only to ask trivial questions such as, “When am I going to get my shares?” However, whilst this union pulled off a groundbreaking agreement with the employer at the start of the year all of us know the employer does not miss a beat when it comes to undermining our terms and conditions in the pursuit of profit. The cartoon on the back page of this years printed Annual Report showing a down trodden victim in front of a desk being pointed at by an onslaught of (smaller drawn) managers appearing out of the desk draws and one very large manager leaning over all, all pointing with a speech balloon announcing, “Cutting off is not an option,” may at first appear surreal but as most have come to realise managements ideas concerning what is feasible to absorb into a standard duty have become exactly that - very, very surreal. In the past year, in the unit where I work I have seen increasing sickness and injuries. Ultimately there have been those who no longer able to cope with no breaks, 100% working and working over their hours everyday have finally conceded that they can no longer work for this employer. Employer harassment to complete deliveries, fatigue - so fatigued that they cannot do their job as well as they have done previously but also so fatigued that their free time and their family time are disrupted. I am sure that many of us feel just like them but for most of us that is not a option for if it was this company would fast come to a halt. Clearly, it is hard to ask members to give up a small part of their Sunday to attend under such circumstances but it is vital that the employer is aware that despite the aforementioned agreement that members are interested enough not to sit back and become redundant in their achieving an even better deal for the future.

Hope to see you there - iPostie
