By claiming that when processing go on strike on Thursday (?) that posties will be required to go over and sort the mail on top of sorting our own stuff.

Surely they can't do this? I suppose if everyone works to their 318's then they'd be screwed but I get the feeling that most of my office wont do this.

If your DO is in a mail centre then your on strike as well... thats how i read it

Yeah its a mail centre, we were discussing wether or not we should strike on Thursday and Friday as well, couldn't get a hold of the union rep so we're not sure if it would be classed as unofficial action or not?

I would of thought they'd be more interested in getting the work you would have that day out.

Downloaded this email from CWU. Headed National Guidelines for the two week programme for industrial Action

Function/site specific.

Example 1: A Mail Centre may also have a Delivery, Distribution and network function on the same site. In these instances all of the members from these four functions would be involved in the industrial action on the days scheduled for the Mail Centre/Cash Handling Units but will not be expected to take action on the days scheduled for delivery( ie. 27th July 07 and 2nd- 3rd August 07) or network offices (ie. 1st- 2nd August 07 and 7th- 8th August 07.

Example 2: A Delivery Office may also have a Distribution/Collection Hub on site. In this instance again the members from both Delivery and Distribution would be scheduled to take action on the days scheduled for Deliveries.

Example 3: A Delivery Office, Mail Centre or Network Unit may have a Walk Bundling Centre on site. In these instances again the members from the Walk Bundling Centre would be scheduled to take action on the days scheduled for the Delivery Office, Mail Centre or Network Unit as appropriate.

if you have two entrances one for processing etc.. and one for deliveries then your strike day will be saturday as you will not have to cross a picket line

all getting a bit messy really. in york it's everyone out on thursday. as far as the public know we're supposed to be out sat. :

They never have a clue on any day ending in a "y" according to this forum so the next 2 weeks are gonna have them in a right spin.

u better check with the union our delivery office is in the mail center to but the union forgot to include it so now the mail centre is on strike on the satday with delivery check this

yes they can make you do alternative work at alternative sites. To refuse would be unofficial strike action.

Hey look on the bright side. They have to get u there, they then have to train u (and u wont be tryin hard will u), then they have to get u back for your finishin time.

The answer here is to be calm, do as they ask and smile at them. This will really piss them off and you will have a really easy day.

Apparently some of our DO managers were telling the posties that we are out on Saturday, we are out Thursday as we are in a MC. Says it all really does'nt it

The MCM was in all night Sunday, bag tipping, because he's not authorising docket due to the strike.
