Witnessed the best ever sorting test today.
Dom approaches two lads who had been on the ips and were sitting next to each other.
Dom takes the mail out of the frame of one of the lads, but decided to take what walk the lad was the duty holder of . Passes them over to the lad next to him and ask him what walk they were from. Its not as if the lad was going to give himself missorts now was it,as you would imagine passed.
He then took out the mail of the other lad same senario again looked for his numbered walk on the ips frame handed the mail over to the lad opposite he also passed ,Yes i know small miracles do actually happen.
The two lads are sitting there straching there heads as the dom informs them that they both passed,dom walks off to a chorus of giggles.
Does this happen in any other office.

They stopped doing sorting checks a couple of years ago after it became apparent that all the managers didn't know the sorting themselves!

This is more about security than sorting accuracy.
People on the take will often sort mail to themselves that isn't proper to their own walk (esp. birthday cards etc) believing that this will throw suspicion elsewhere.
As stated - the guy's not going to give himself missorts, so if there's anything he's sorted to his own box that shouldn't be there it's a sign that something suspect might be going on.
