operational requirements

After reading a number of agreements I see the term operational requirements appear regularly without any clear definition of what they are. Having had this term thrown at me by management in my office without any real explanation, I am beginning to feel it`s royal mails get out of jail free card.
Can someone please explain what delivery office operational requirements are?

It`s just a made up bullshit word so that somebody can wear a suit and harrass staff,so you just go ahead sonny and stamp my card to be conduct coded,because to tell you the truth,I don`t give a s**t.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!

I think "to get the job done" is quite accurate.

It is a very loose catch-all phrase which means whatever the management require it to mean and any particular moment. A bit like the term 'collateral damage' it excuses any type of inexcusable behaviour on the grounds that it needs to occur to get the job done. It could mean asking you to come in 2hrs later or earlier with no notice and with no provision made for child-care or family commitments for example.
