As regards D2Ds- an idea

Wouldn't it be better to employ someone in your office to take all the D2Ds and take the hassle of the Postman as taking up to 10 and maybe more a week is ridiculous. Taking 3 is bad enough. We will be getting a worse deal for D2Ds than before and the price you got paid for is the same as 20yrs ago. Why not give up payment and get some else to do and let us get on with being a Postman and not a leaflet taker first and Postman second. Royal Mail will win too as they will end up paying less a week.

How is any human being going to have the time to deliver every door to door item to every address in an office?

If a postman took out 10 leaflets to 500 calls at approx 1.67p per leaflet per day he would make £83.50 per day.

five days a week to 2500 calls = £417.50 per week.

That would be a good enough incentive to encourage others and if each postie is delivering 2500 calls per week then RM need only do a simple bit of maths to find out how many extra staff are needed.

Obviously only doing 5 leaflets per day to 2500 calls per week would result in just over £208 per week

Think it through mate ,if they come in pre-packaged you would only get paid for one....or £8.35 per day.

They certainly will, because as traditional mail volumes continue to fall (you can't un-invent the internet), every Delivery Office would end up with 1 full-time leaflet-taker earning a good wage, and everyone else on part-time wages for delivering whatever else is left

And it's not very efficient to have two different postman visiting the same houses on the same walk every day, is it ?

Of course they' say it's falling , they only count the stamped mail not the rest of the dross we deliver for everyone else.

I've been on the same walk for the last 12 years , when I started it was 486 calls and 3 bags a day ( and a complete T**s off) , now it's 703 calls and 8 bags .The bags are no lighter than they were at the start if anything they're heavier.

I just wish the union had only negotiated lifting the cap and that we still were paid fairly for D2D instead of it propping up every other RM employee's wage rise regardless of whether they do them or not.
