Don't think the union does loans itself, you often get preferential rates advertised in The Voice and such like.

Credit unions are also a decent option

You can get a loan from the communcation friendly society not sure whether you still have to have a policy with them .

Ive got loans off them for years now very good rate i borrow a £1000 pay back £1060 and the deductions come straight out your wages.

CWFS you have to have held a policy with them for more than 12 months. Typical APR is 12.8%, borrow between £200 and £1500, repaid within 12 months.

This is how I imagine it to be to ask for a loan from the Union itself ( not CWFS )

if you speak to them directly and speak to 1 of the main men then they may let you take a loan out earlier than the 12 months you are supposed to have been with them for, i have known this to happen
