I have been signed off for 3 weeks (broken collar bone), i gave my line manager my doctors certificate and he took a photocopy and gave the original back to me. Is this the correct procedure or should he have kept the original?

personally i would have done the same,as you have a record of it,it should be ok,but,i would also do the reverse,you get a photocopy,& give the original to your manager,just in case there is some "misunderstanding" later on

He's quite right, you keep originals but make sure you keep it in case they want to see it at a later date!

Hope your collar bone heals quick, my son broke his last year, it was very painful and he was pretty helpless for the first few weeks. Don't be thinking you will be back out delivering and carrying bags after the 3 weeks, it can take a good few months to heal properly, my son's took 5 months to heal enough for him to be allowed to play sport again and it takes over a year for it to heal fully.

Don't play sport, other than darts and dominoes, and you will be a lot less likely to get such painful and unnecessary injuries.

HI EVERYONE,

On a slightly diff subject i was off sick 3rd april till 17th april thats fifteen days and am now being given a stage one but this sickness ran through Bank Holiday Monday which i believe we do not work so have i been off 14 days or 15 please help

If you were off sick on Saturday 3 April that's when you sickness count starts from. Otherwise you would be able to discount all the other Sundays and days off you were due whilst off sick.

The only way I know to get days off and Sundays/BH discounted is to call in the day before to say that you are well enough for work now so you will be in work on your next scheduled working day. As you were off from Saturday to your next working day then unfortunately the BH counts .

The good news is that because they count it as a Sick day you are entitled to claim it back in Lieu.
