Job Description
Do you enjoy working as a team as well as alone? Are you passionate about customer service?
Royal Mail are now recruiting Delivery Postmen and Postwomen who may be required to undertake occasional driving duties.
Contract length: Temporary 3 months
Hours of work: 6 hours per week 13.30 to 19.30 working Saturday only" :shock: :shock: :shock:
Not the most accessable of locations to work, and not the best hours of the week to work. :sad:

Quite scenic though.
But why would delivery postmen/women be working 13.30-19.30?
Do the people out there not like their post any earlier?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Or because it's a long way from civilisation, and it takes a long time to bring the mail eighty miles from the mail centre.

But surely the mail has to be delivered by 4pm?

That is "tools for the job" a wooden board so the delivery person can row across with the mail. At least they gave him all afternoon to get there. :Very Happy

Lochgilphead is mainland,i used to work just a couple of miles up the road in Crinan
mind you,the mental hospital has open patients who get out during the day,sounds apt ;)

i would guess the little post office up by crinan would be closed now as it was hardly open when i was there,no idea about the 1930 finish
rural collection run?

for anyone considering it,i wouldnt want to live there again ;)

The Delivery Office deals with all PA30 8, PA31 8 and PA32 8 mail and, yes, there is still a Post Office there ;
