Out of everything in the new agreement, the one issue that concerns me is the "transforming relationships"
Rogue managers are in abundance up and down the country and many of them do not seem to wish to act in the spirit of this part of the agreement.
This thread is to share the lengths and breadths you have endured, the sacrifices, and above all the end result of standing up for your rights as a Royal Mail employee in the face of modern day tyranny.
its better once you get them into the idea that you wont work over, come in early ,miss your break etc
worse as you will be pulled up for anything and everything they can
hence why i got sacked on a stage 3

If you stand alone then obviously it makes you an easy target. No-one is perfect and they will make life difficult for you if you make life difficult for them.
Far better to stand together and run the office properly. Unity is strength and all that.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

For me the past near 7 years has been a constant battle with management -postghost wrote:What I am curious of here is who has actually stood their ground in face of a management decision and how it affected where you are in the job now. Is it better? Worse?

Unmanageable workloads is one of the biggest gripes i seem to have with management, always being pressured to achieve the unachievable, heated discussions almost on a daily basis, and it's certainly had an adverse effect on my time in the industry, being forced out of one office into another and the cycle continues!!
But in the face of adversity f*** it i say, i won't let the bastards grind me down.

Re: Standing your ground and the outcome...
i had dealings with my dom who is now line manager who incidentally has bullying and harrassment cases against him from different DO and despite these has just been moved from office to office. my arguments and fights where about the usually stuff. lapsing when busy, family friendly etc. payback from this was the sack. last august i approached said manager about excess d2d in huge numbers every week. he did fa about this. took it to his then lino who looked into it. i continued to get excess and thought feck it if they can't be arsed ill not mention it again. put the excess in the excess storage area in the same boxes they arrived in and thought nothing over it. 2nd of march this year the i.b called me in saying the lino formerly the dom had apparently been counting my d2d's since jan the 18th and they where all right. i said bollocks asked how he had been counting them when i come in to my d2ds sealed they said he had been resealing them strapex the lot!! they then changed ther mind and he didnt resealing them despite my claim of no opened boxes! i was sacked on the 29th of march after 7 years . ive still not seen the linos paperwork of said count all ive seen is two counts of my d2ds by the i.b out of 4 done after i had left. one count a full contract had failed to arrive which in my 7 years had never happened before. and the 2nd the contracts where down by a substantial amount. ive since found out by my former collegues that the lino while the i.b had been doing the check had refused to let staff put the d2ds out on a saturday which they had done in all the years i was there. so he could put them out himself after they had gone. the i.b turned up on the mondays after! despite the contridictions and there was plenty more !! i had on tape i struggled to recover off the i.b and the lack of evidence/paperwork i was still sacked. im currently waiting the verdict with my appeal with the help of the 2nd lino i asked to check my d2d's. i fully expect that to fail so iam gearing up for a tribunel. what i will say is if you fight your dom. make sure you keep as clean as you can. because despite me doing this and telling them about my problem with d2d,s its ended with me being on the dole with a mortgage a young family and a gross misconduct dismissal against my name

How things have changed when you can now be sacked for the sake of a few leaflets which no one wants anyway
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: Standing your ground and the outcome...
If you stand up to the management , you have to have broad shoulders, very broad shoulders.Since E.A I have had nothing but grief regarding my walk.It cant be done , end of .Computer says yes it can, i say let the feckin computer go and feckin do it!
If you do the job as it should be done using RMs own proceedures , then there is nothing they can do to you... they will try , they will say this and they will threaten you with that, but even they know there is not a thing they can do about it.I have put grieveances in against various managers ( still waiting for the outcome ) i have had charges of wilful delay put aagainst me , still waiting for the outcome on that aswell, but that charge will go tits up and they know it.Its like a game to me now , the more they try and stitch me up, the stronger i get seeing them floundering about .All they have to do is retest my walk and up to now i have had promise after promies to have it done, but still not done yet. I always do my job as though someone is watching me, because they probably are.I am expecting to get stitched up some time , but with a good rep, and we have one in our office, i should be ok. But always stand up to any bullying and keep banging in any grievances, because eventually some one does listen, it may take time but its worh it.Since EA was forced in in our office a number of doms have tried it on , and failed and a number of linos have tried it on and failed.IF IT CANT BE DONE, THEN IT CANT BE DONE, SIMPLE.....

Re: Standing your ground and the outcome...
Our office is rather militant and we stand our ground everyday against management.
Our first incident came last year by Exe action R/M took out 6 walks and a driving duty .
Result we stood on the gate for 4 days would of been longer but on the advice of our branch returned back to work.
3 months to clear the back log in the end R/M did a u-turn and we got 3 walks plus the driving duty back in, all walks were mapped out by the reps making them more fair and workable.
2nd incident was this week the day after we got the yes vote in the recent ballot .Again by EXE Act R/M were changing the start times of our A/G workers, into the canteen we went this time for 3 hours only. This resulted in a stop to any future changes in the times of the A/G workers until talks had been held.

our office panicked and voted through one of RM's options
i told them not to panic as you are only doing 8 hours a day but oh no the flappers all voted

I supposed they were shown a terrible vision of the future.custard wrote: our office panicked and voted through one of RM's options![]()

And then offered a slightly less terrible version.
It's an old RM trick,it gets the CWU everytime.
The union has even started using it on their own members now.

The impression I'm getting from my Del Office rep is hes up for a battle in the very near future and he ain't going to back down
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
