A few questions.
Firstly, does the £20.60 supplement only begin to get paid once your office has had a FULL walk sequenced revision? Therefore D2D payments still hold the field until then?
secondly, doesnt your office have to have to have a NONE sequenced revision first?
Thirdly, I am FT, around midtable in seniority of FTers, now, if I am happy with a 5 day week 8 hour day, and I state that in the preference exercise (10 hour shifts are no good to me as I have kids that need picking up from school) how will this work when an office repick comes into play? I mean some may say they want a 4 day week, 10 hour shift, then not like the look of them when it comes to the pick leaving the people that asked for 5 day weeks with only 4 day weeks left.
Surely it would be better to leave everyone on their own turns and work around that. Myself and the guy next to me work on the same estate right next to each others duties, he drives I dont, and we're both happy with a 5 day week, we would both happily do the 2 guy in a van thing.

Re: A few questions.
The £20.60 supplement will not be delayed until the walk sequencing revision. The union are meeting Royal Mail to discuss this and other issues next week.
Those offices who have walk sequencing this year will get their £600 for introducing the revison and then an extra £ 200 with 6 weeks.
All other offices will either have a geo route revison , a table top revison , a delivery methods or a geo route revison or a combitnation of these this year in order to get the £200 payment.
Those who have walk sequencing revisons this year will still need to have a revison next year be that geo route or delivery methods in order to achieve the £200.
In terms of having to do a 4 day week , no every other will be surveyed and can have a mix and match of attendances to suit the office. However whether you keep the same duties will depend on the negotiations within your office.
in terms of leave it will be different from now in any case as if you have different types of attendances and if you have car derived vans. The reason for this is that reserves would be entitled to better attendaces and less saturdays and rest day covers. Plus leave will be altered for cdvs as you do need to have enough drivers etc.

Re: A few questions.
But do we need an office repick if we can work around that and still get people waht they want? Seems pointless.

Not sure bout first point, no date given round stoppage of D2D payments yet, still no official communication round credit workload yet.mclovin wrote:Firstly, does the £20.60 supplement only begin to get paid once your office has had a FULL walk sequenced revision? Secondly - Revisions will run separate to each other.
Supposed 10hr day- This mythical 10hr day can only be achieved if there is work in your unit to accomadate it. 10 hr days will depend on your
current office structure etc, number of duties both F/T & P/T , when you get W/S etc

Re: A few questions.
It will depend on the changes and if jobs have been lost then yes there is a need to identify the surplus and if someone senior has been displaced as a result of the change then yes I think a resign is needed.mclovin wrote:But do we need an office repick if we can work around that and still get people waht they want? For example if out of 30 walks 10 are going to be HCT and 20 are going to be CDVs plus there are going to be different attendances and potential job losses then they will mean a non driver could only sign for the HCT walks and possibly only 5 of the CDV duties as the guidelines state that non drivers should only account for 50% of the CGV vans albeit that has been relaxed in some units.

Re: A few questions.
if they decide we shall receive the rip off payment of 20.60 pro rata before revisions, how is the d2d going to be prepped, as its workload now?

I've no idea what a table top revision is. But BSI stands for British Standards Institute. http://www.bsigroup.co.uk/en/About-BSI/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;ashadd wrote:Go on then......whats a "table top revision"? and while we are at it what does " BSI " stand for .

Re: A few questions.
A table top revision was pretty common in the 70s and again in the 90s in Royal Mail.andy2007 wrote:I've no idea what a table top revision is. What it basically boils down to is a bunch of, for want of a better word, "experts", who may or may not have been involved in the work they are reviewing who, using statistical analysis, which they may or may not understand, arrive at a production level figure which the workforce should be able to achieve.
Before leaving the forces in the 70s I qualified as a Work Study Engineer, this was all the rage in those days, production lines, lighting, position of offices and even desks in the office were all subject to scrutiny and then there was the table top exercises to adjust the work level to whatever the management wanted and I don't suppose times have changed that much. On paper it was a work of art, pie charts, rows of figures, break times, unofficial break times, coloured charts of travel across the shop floor, quite believable but usually absolute codswallop.
In the 80s I was working for an electricity board and my department was subject to a WSE exercise by an independent WSE who requested me to meet him on site from my office to discuss his proposals. He was unaware that I had any experience in these matters and was blithely laying down manure by the shovel full - cut a long story short I asked to see the daily breakdown of the working day which really is the crux of the exercise - looking through the various aspects of the workforces' daily tasks I noticed one glaring error and asked him " where is the lunch break on here" - he looked a bit perplexed and said "lunch?" like it was a foreign word. I said you know when they take a break for something to eat, "Ah" he said looking like an idiot, "yes, well we'll try and fit it in somewhere" and I replied - "well why don't you try and fit it in about lunch time". I spoke to my boss within the hour and that was the end of that.

Anyway,i have been involved in 3 'table top' revisions at my place.
I'm guessing it's the same everywhere but here you go...
You get the rep and a few bods who know all the walks and you restructure the duties.
For instance if your cuts are 40hrs then you have to move and shake parts of walks around so you lose one of them.
Add a bit here add a bit there ect, well that's how we done it at our place anyway.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: A few questions.
If we were to "lose" a couple of duties then we'll be massively overstaffed.
It will be a case of tweaking what we already have I think.
