The Tories and the public sector 1 yr pay freeze. ?

Ok according to all the polls its looking likely that the Tories will be the next government. If it will be a hung parliament is a bit unclear. Trouble is one of thier manifesto pledges is to introduce a one year pay freeze for all public sector workers, which is nice.

How do we stand on this ? Are we still considered public sector workers as the government no longer has all the shares of Royal Mail.

If this includes us will the new 3 years pay deal save us or will we once again get screwed over .

I think you already know the answer to that

Hopefully the CWU will fight any attempt to overturn an agreement already accepted. If they did try and overturn the pay-rise for us I can confidently predict a strike for about 4 days then RM/CWU will come up with a compromise that we suffer a pay freeze the following year. This off course ignores 1 pay freeze in 2009 and 1 below inflation pay rise in 2008 which should be played for all its worth in any negotiations.

George Osborne today announced that a Conservative government would impose a one-year pay freeze for the 4 million public servants earning more than £18,000 in 2011 as he vowed to tackle the country's debt crisis.

£18k i earned more than that with O/T, not really sure what our basic is but iam not in London so should be ok

Basic FT is £338.57 (before pay rise) so that makes £17605.64 for 52 weeks. Close which is why I think it will put Londoners over. However cant see the CWU agreeing winners and loosers by everyone but them getting a pay rise.

Whichever party gets in we are going to get screwed ,Royal Mail will use any excuse to get out of paying.The union has been fooled into this deal,they will renage on it.

The real reason that the POL pay deal has not been agreed is that they are waiting for the result of the general Erection. When the Tories get in, RM/CWU will use this as an excuse for giving us another year's pay freeze.

They fobbed us off by saying that the negotiations that took place with some senior managers would not count because the new MD had not been involved. Why didn't they speak to the organ grinder in the first place?

POL's half year's profit 2009/2010 rose by 50%:
