Public sector pay freeze.
Every party stated last night they would bring in a pay freeze if they were to win the general election.
The |CWU has managed to beat that by getting a 3 year deal which means not only does basic pay go up but the supplement goes up each year.
The third year wording around the review was worded in that way not because Royal Mail wanted that but if inflation or the pension issue was resolved.
Some of you believe that this was never about pay , well sorry it was always about the priniciple that Royal Mail should pay for change rather than just introduce change without any beneftits for the workforce.

By having a pay cut forced on me then I have surely just funded my own "payrise" for the next 3 years anyway ?

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
I am not doubting you have lost money, but it is quite strange that the average door to door payment was £12 and the average early shift payment was £8 and the average amount of door to door was 2.1 and the average person only does door to door for a maximum of 43 weeks due to annual leave and the christmas weeks ) excluding any sick leave , and that the average amount of delivery points are 500 then the amount of people who state they are losing cant all be right.ziggy wrote:By having a pay cut forced on me then I have surely just funded my own "payrise" for the next 3 years anyway ?
Unless they are all on this site.
For the record you got paid early shift for working Early. Under the 2007 pay and mod agreement the union managed to trap that money for further use under simplified pay. The fact is in the future hardly anyone will be working at that start time. Grandfather rights was only if the union did not have an agreement on simpliied pay.
Now in terms of door to door I have seen the figures and believe me there are a lot more below the line of £12 door to door then above it. Yes there are some who stand to lose and the union has admitted it but not the amount who alledge. If you like you can PM me and I will try and get your offices last years door to door figures and payments.
I have London and the Thames Valley regions now and anyone who states they get 3 items every week in those two regions are spinning the truth. By the way the Thames Valley covers the Swindon, Oxford , Reading , Gloucester , Uxbridge , Harrow and North West London areas.

dingo whether you like it or not
there are people that got 3 week in week out
they also didnt get paid for them at xmas as they didn't deliver them - now we have to it will be a living nightmare
and there are many people that have lost money on this deal and are not happy
you have to remember you cannot judge everyone on your area not everyone works in it

I have never said that some people get 3 items . But I have yet to meet anyone who gets less than 3. Which we know is not true.feduppostie wrote:dingo whether you like it or not

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
K I'll look at it subjectively.
The old deal:
I get 3 d2d most weeks. The occasional time I get 2. The week before the voting started I got 1. As I'm on rehab, I only deliver to 261 houses. Throughout the year, this averaged out at £12/week (this includes not getting it at xmas)
New deal: I deliver more d2d and still get £12.06.
If I was on a full duty (682 houses) I would be losing out.
I didn't vote no for me, I voted no for everyone else who was losing out. And there are a lot who lose out on this deal.
Dingo can you clarify something for me plz? There is a rumour going around that London don't deliver many d2d items at the moment? Or is this one of the silly rumours that fly about to show where the votes have come from?

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
Dingo , most weeks I get 3 D2D`s , some weeks it has been two and the occasional week it is one . At the moment I get paid accordingly , I don`t mind that , I don`t expect to be paid when I deliver none .
What I seriously object to is being given MORE including day sensitive ones for what amounts to less money . If they wanted to bring in more D2D`s then we should have kept the old system of paying . If they wanted to give us a fixed supplement then the D2D`s should have been capped too . And that god awful decision to pay us part timers pro rata for prepping and delivering the same as everyone else is an insult !

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
although i voted no for the deal the union have got this one right, all the parties are going to put the boot into the public service workers and our union will be targeted by the tories if they get in which looks likely.dingo wrote:Every party stated last night they would bring in a pay freeze if they were to win the general election.

Dingo , lots of members taking a pay cut on delivery re d2d payments and any rises in pay linked to work place changes , we will be held hostage and any resistance will result in no pay rise so .......cheers mate , nice onedingo wrote:Every party stated last night they would bring in a pay freeze if they were to win the general election.

Dingo sounds more and more like Neville Callaghan with his recent attempts to defend the deal..

Can it dingo - the deals done, the pay rises have been self financed, the union are toothless dogs - I hope many more leave the money grabbing charlatans to their own devices. The third year was worded in that way so that less than 3.5% could be paid - still who cares, the seat warmers won't be too worried because they have a new financial footing to look forward to.

once again dingo i point out that all reps connected with delivery on full time release are getting a rise of £20.60 p/w, hardly a big picture attitude and hardly a pay freeze

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
Ok ignoring the loss of the d2ds being shoved into workload and the amount we lose out there.....
No pay increase last year minus inflation = pay cut
This year 2% pay rise, minus inflation = pay cut
Next year 1.4% pay rise, minus inflation = pay cut
Year after 3.6% [which RM can opt out of],minus inflation = lets face it its gonna be a pay cut!
This is without the money people will be losing out on in others areas, shift bonus, d2ds etc
Can someone please explain to me how it took 4 months to come up with this bullshit I could have made that up in ten minutes?
Can someone also explain to me if deliveries have to cope with an increased workload for the good of the "team" what exactly extra will managers, processing, executives be doing extra? Will they be prepping d2ds for us? No I didnt think so
CWU has sacrificed delivery staff for the sake of all others. There should not have been one ballot there should have been two, one for deliveries who were getting shafted and one for all the others. This in itself rigged the ballot nothing else was necessary. This is why RM knew the ballot would go through. Give just over half the membership a sweet enough deal and they were bound to take it
Rant over

ESA?
I presume they did not loose that upon FT release?
That would be unfair on H and S reps coming from a delivery backgorund if they do not get ESA as they have a legal entitlement for release.
