Some final thoughts.
I remember a while back that our office had a vote on some operational changes that would make things fairer for all. The changes were beneficial to 85% of the office and not good for 15%. There was a vote and guess what the result was, 85% yes 15% no. I was in the 15% and I remember moaning about it but unfortunately that is how the system works in the union as a whole.
Basically, to make it fairer overall, a few have took a hit. Sometimes it goes down like that.
Now all work is measured and in workload. The d2d money has been secured into pay and hopefully into basic pay eventually. Everyone earns based on the hours they do. If you apply yourself for the 40 hours you are paid and the guy next to you does so, then you will get paid the same. What is so bad about that? If the guy next to you works 30 hours, he will get 3/4 of your pay. Why is that so unfair?
Saturdays can be shorter for those that want it but can be longer for those that don't mind and would rather have extra days off. Private cars will cease, the best part of the agreement for me. Breaks built into the day and the idiots that still insist on working through them and finish early will be classed as finishing early and hopefully actions taken.
Many parts of the agreement are about trying to further change the culture in RM, and have people doing the job right. The union have done exactly the right thing and done what is overall best for the workforce with the expense of upsetting a fair few in the short term. Like a father might go mad at his small child for running in the road and make it cry, but the father did it for the overall benefit of the child's future.
There is no doubt that RM could do with overhauling the management structure, but that will not happen without privatization.
The agreement isn't perfect but what agreement ever is?
I am not on here to upset people, this is my honest view.

You've contradicted yourself! Your office ccontradicted itself!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The point was that the many benefited by a small amount and the few were brought down to that level, thus losing out, but then overall things were fairer.

It really is transparent when someone attacks unimportant aspects of an argument and not the reasoning behind it. Its a poor analogy I grant, but it is the thrust of the argument that counts. I'm basically saying that I think the union are acting for our greater good and the future and clearly you don't so fair enough.

Re: Some final thoughts.
Where do you start with this pish? honestly?
You can dress a pig in knickers my friend, but it's still a pig in knickers. We got asked to strike and we did,we got asked to go back to work and we did.
For what?
A pay cut and longer finishing times.
And let's not forget that we didn't even strike about money,nothing.....absolutely nothing we went out over has been addressed.
I truly believe in the concept of a union, always have, but this one?
It's a f***ing joke.

I say a fairer distribution of pay and better attendance options. Two sides of the same coin.proper postie wrote:

Sorry, but i do speed read at times because i'm so far behind on posts on here.banner18 wrote:POSTMAN wrote:I remember a while back that our office had a vote on some operational changes that would make things fairer for all. The changes were beneficial to 85% of the office and not good for 15%.

Anyway, you threw a strop because your workload was leveled out to that of the others, which by what you are saying i'm guessing your duty/walk had more put on it.
So you moaned because your 'touch' of a duty was found out.

How is someone getting paid for work they don't do a fairer distribution of pay?banner18 wrote:I say a fairer distribution of pay and better attendance options. Two sides of the same coin.proper postie wrote:

You can dress it up all you want but it's a d2d supplement, and when the locker guy is getting more than me when he doesn't so much as touch one then I don't view that as a fair distribution of pay.

That's about the size of it. I grumbled about it rather than throwing a strop.
Maybe this agreement has found out a few people judging from the reactions on here
