Buddy trays

So your probably wondering what I'm on about.

About a month ago we started getting trays of mail brought into the office that had a mix of flats and letters for 2 duties. They would be put out to the prep frames and we have to go through them, sometimes taking a good 10 minutes depending on the volume of mail we're getting that day.

I think our office gets most of it's feeds from the Edinburgh/Glasgow mail centres. So, what the hell is going on with these trays of mail? I thought automation was meant to decrease the time we spent preping mail in the morning but now we have to deal with these so called "buddy trays".

More importantly, are any other area's getting mail brought to their office in these trays? It seems to me like a step backwards in this drive for greater efficency :|

been getting buddy trays in for a few years now on last feed and from glasgow mail centre.
didnt like them to begin with but i suppose better than having to ips them at 8am which would be worse.

We've had buddy bundles for years now. I love them cos the boy who i'm buddied with comes in an hour early and moans every day cos he has to do them all himself , i come in on my time to aframe with all my mech laid out in front of me!

Yeah had em for years in my DO . Can be a pain in the arse but so is most things here now lol

Do buddy trays disappear with walk sequenced mail?

What it is designed for mate is to remove time from your IPS thus allowing more time for a longer delivery span.

Saves us absolutely no time on the IPS in falkirk tbh, because we lose IPS sorters to put these trays out plus the time it takes us to split the tray's between the deliveries :p

The attitude from M.C.s seem to be as long as they've cleared all the mail they dont care what state of disorder it arrives at the Delivery Offices.

No it's mostly machinable flats and odd sized letters that are not suitable for the CSS machines.
Why they are buddied up i don't know but someone from the M/Cs could probably tell you,I'm just a delivery donkey.
