The deal is done now so when can I take advantage?

Post by Spedley »

I voted no. I expected a yes vote but thought it would be closer than that.

Now the deal is done I'd like to take what benefit I can before any conflict starts in our office. With 40% being part time and I'm easily high enough in seniority, when can I apply for a full time position and how do I do it?

P.S. to clarify, the deal includes the ideal of 75% full timers.

I don't know the answer to this but I would suspect the 75% of full timers is a national target and not the exact makeup of every office in the Country. I can't see it would work if you have a 4 walk SPDO and tell one of the full time Posties they have to go part time to fit the agreed model just so someone else down the road can pick uo the extra hours.

HAHA You will never be able to take advantage of the benefits they dont really exist pity the membership didnt realise that before voting.

Alls the YES voters have done and the cwu is give R/M and bigger and thicker stick to beat us with.

In my office we will never see the £1,000 bonus another smoke screen.

SHAFTED what a very dark day for the cwu and its members.

To go full time you will have to wait for an office re-pick / re-sign, of which there could be quite a few happening as the entire delivery structure is poised to change. :arrrghhh One thing I would add is that it will depend on what your union agrees to for the procedures of the re-sign, I've heard of some not following the way forward agreement and excluding A/G's from going full time. :no no

Your only other hope is that a duty which has been vacant for 6 months is put up on the board.

Have been told that moving our office ratio up nearer the 75% mark will probably mean the 8 or 9 guys we have on temp contracts will be looking for another job. :evil/mad

How's that for a choice to make?

The 75% full time to part time is a national figure, so don't get too excited as I doubt RM will increase anyones hours. Indeed there are going to be job losses and I would not rule out anyone, the changes to working practices in delivery is going to be massive.

Two in a van taking everything out including packets and specials, the new sorting machines and lots of new stuff will have a negative effect on the total number of staff. We all knew it was coming one way or another, if we had not agreed a lot of it they would have just imposed all the bad bits. We now have to roll our sleeves up and make the best of it we can for everyone, we must keep a weather eye open for Managers altering/misreading/ changing the agreements. RM senior management will no doubt now turn itself on its management structures, they know pots of serious money can be saved there.

The next few months might be fun :funneh

Our DOM also said the part time/full time ratio is a national figure. We've about 6 part time duties in our office out of about 100 walks.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Oh well, that was the only plus point in the deal. I was kind of joking as I knew it was a national figure but I didn't realise we were currently 79% full time already ... if anyone can confirm that.

My DOM seems to genuinely think that D2D should be done in our own time and that flexibility can be implemented if it is 'a busy day'. I hope to take advantage of this naivety before bad feelings start to multiply and I'll try to get myself up to full time by blagging it.
