I've got to the stage now whereby if i have a few flats/catalogues i wait while the dog grabs them, then i just slap hand the mail through the letterbox and more often than not I'm rewarded with a satisfying yelp, marvellous!

Years ago, I had a similar experience where a dog would hear the gate go then come charging from the kitchen, barking all the while and then without fail everyday, run into the door. That colossal and pain inducing "thud" every morning made the whole nonsense of waking up at 5.15 am almost tolerable ! :dance :dance

A number of dogs each day, same houses, same old barks.

I just bundle the mail together, and force it through hard, it's all you can do. Otherwise it's pushed back out by a snarling nose.

An old trick, but the owners soon get the message. Make a small tear in the middle of the envelope, when the dog rips them out of your hand you'll hear a satisfying ripping sound of the letters being torn in two. A few days of that and a box is usually fitted, or the dog gets a good old slap.
Obviously this only works on paper envelopes, not Sky mags or Saga catalogues.

One of our guys got bitten today. I believe the second time for him in a couple of years.

So far I have been lucky... but it will come my way at some point.

I do the same, let the dog rip up the cheques and giros, satisfying and they can't do anything about it, if they don't care about my fingers, why should I care about their letters, its irresponsible, I wonder how many paper lads been bitten like this just for providing a service, I feel some of my customers are scums, selfish, self absorbed, only speak to you when they wanted something no please or thank you from them, I would do no favours for them, they get the minimum from me.

And how would you treat if she was one of your customers?

If Jerri Ryan speaks to me with civility and politeness, no problem, snotty arrogant attitude gets nowhere with me no matter what status they have.

In the space of 6 months I was attacked by two dogs and one cat(!), all on the same duty. The cat actually did the most damage as it drew blood on three different occasions before I decided that I had had enough and got my lino to go out and have a chat with the idiot of an owner, who thought the whole thing was hilarious.
