Look the tories ending the closed shop , so the CWU is a voluntary organisation and whilst I always want people to be members as whatever our disagreements we are stonger togther than we are as indivuduals you do have choice.

So those of you who are leaving then that is your choice nothing I say or anyone else will make any difference.

However if you do make that choice then you become an indivdual and whislt you will share any benefits you will also share the pain.

The strategy is Royal Mail strategy not the CWU. Royal Mail purchased 500 CSS walk sequencing machines not the CWU , Royal Mail changed the workplan meaning Saturdays will be a standrised day as they wont turn the machines off on Saturdays, Royal Mail want to lift the cap on door to door as its a growing market in an overall shrinking mail and revenue enviorment. The CWU could not change the plan but got the improvements in terms and conditions as well as attendaces and protection of full time jobs.

Royal Mail is not in the best state in fact if it was a private company it would be insolvent , it has a pension deficit which is meaning that it pays 30 pence in every pound back to the pension defcit. The new pension defcit is 10 billion its not been announced but everyone knows and is not even included in this 3 year strategy. Post comm and the Government have sticthed us up on down stream access so Royal Mail have lost the profitable upstream market , remember just 50 compaines control 80% of the mail`s market and Royal Mail have been left with the most costly part the final mile which accounts for 60% of Royal Mail`s overall cost.

Royal Mail letters made an operating profit of just 50 million in a 7 billion turnover, a 1% decrese in traffic over over the predcition of traffic decline over the next 3 years will blow the plan compeltely that how serious a situration is.

Yet there are still people who think we can turn away mail volumes like door to door. Tell me any car factory who would turn away say the mini because they wanted to rely on building a Jag instread it would not happen.

Work is power and whilst some of you may moan now I think we have seen possibly the most boldest and most clever thing the CWU has done in a generation and that is to get door to door into workload now ahead of automation and protect jobs.

Every other Country which has introduced walk sequencing did so to make their postal industry mainly part time. Remember the Dutch system which everyone was quoting on here well that is not happening.

So if you are leaving the union then that is your choice but please dont expect to be consulted on attendacne patterns , the revison , the length of the delivery span in your unit , your offices agreement and all the other relevant agreements which may come out as you have forfited your right as the CWU negotates on behalf the collective body of the workforce.

I did not like the result of the IWM ballot , productivity bonus scheme , the way forward etc and believe me there were more oppostion then this ballot but I never left the union , no we change it . But changing it means you have to come off the internet and start influencing people in your Branch and like minded Branch`s.

i have not spoke to one person in our office who was going to vote yes so if you ask me this is a total fix and that is why every who voted no should leave the union then maybe we will get some better idea on the real numbers of no votes

dingo,hi there mate,i agree the enemy is royal mail,what is not in dispute is the fact that the cwu hierarchy virtually to a man,support and accept the labour party,the very lot that wrecked royal mail plc.did not repeal thatchers anti union legislation,what must be recognised is yes rm management have played hard ball with the cwu ,got the deal rm plc requires to finally finish the privatisation job,brown and mandelson need to satisfy there euro friends,no one should ever forget the demise of the cwu which has lead to this deal came under the labour party watch,and more significantly the labour supporting nec,talk about turkeys voting for xmas.
