please see the royal mail website.

it says delivery offices within mail centres may be on strike next thursday.

complex, yes.

whats goin on, all delivery staff should be on strike on sat, regardless of location.

royal mail dictating strike dates to CWU!!

If you work in a delivery unit which in turn is housed within a mail center, then your day of strike is Thursday, this has come from a PEC member, something i myself dont agree with, as i believe that having the delivery unit in on the Thursday puts added pressure on those within the processing function who cross the picket line, but as someone has already quoted on this site, this is not a perfect strike, but a strike to cause maximum disruption, i for one will have to cross a picket line

, something im not happy about but something i know i must do unless i want to escalate this strike by being suspended, something as a union i believe we can ill afford to do!!

So my delivery friends across the country strike on Saturday, except the the 26 delivery offices within mail centres who strike on thursday!!

i think it is the correct solution to have a whole office out regardless of function!
if you have some people working whilst some on strike it would look like the action was poorly supported.
Also you know the managment would be putting pressure on the staff working to do the function of the staff on strike to keep things as normal as possible.
Therfore putting pressure on people to refuse to do the work of there colleagues taking action.

K66yla quick question how big is your callers office and how many staff it. I'm asking as I am cover in mine and am getting well stressed out, so much even thinking of doing a greviance against the boss for lack of support. Today in an office of 300 posties I was on my own. Getting sick of people asking when their packet is going to be back. I can't read into the future you plonkers.

Our Callers Office is constantly snowed under with work, there are only 2 of us that work in there full time, one on earlies, one on lates......we only work together for about an hour a day, which is'nt enough time to get everything put away.......also theres all the other stuff aswell, British Gas, Surcharges, Customs etc aswell as letting people into the building, we've asked for help but all I'm ever told is 'you signed into it, stop moaning'. We were'nt getting 400+ items and 200+ surcharges a day when I signed in. Our Callers storage space is very small (see pic) the shelves are overflowing. The posties are meant to put 24 hours on the back of there P739's but most of customers never read back, we now have a 'abusive customer diary'!

My DO is out on Thursday and then the following Tuesday as we are in a MC. What day do the managers send the information to wages for your weekly attendence? If its not till Wednesday a.m. is there a possiblity of me getting docked 2 days pay that week?

my delivery office is housed in mail centre,according to our delivery rep we are striking on saturday, unless we are told different.

lots of confusion, total cock up.

I've been informed now by my rep that this has now been queried by divisional reps who think deliveries that are housed in mail centers should not strike with the mail center but on Saturday with the rest of the delivery offices nationwide, I think I'm gonna have to go on confused dot com, coz this is getting out of hand now!!!

Every function in the mail centre will be out at the same time that is the action that the union have decided on so as to avoid having to cross picket lines at your own office. Unlikley to change as any change would require a weeks notice. RM are expecting every function within the mail centres to be out from 7pm wednesday night.
