Door to Door into workload
Revealed is managments version of door to door into workload. This has not been agreed with the CWU and is subject to change.
But it will give you a flavour of their thinking
Appoach o be used in planning :
Prep 1/6 into the frame each day starting from Monday and deliver 1/6th each day.
Following planning values from prep per 500 delivery point route to assist indoor delivery planning :
1 contract 4 mins per day
2 contracts 8 mins per day
3 contracts 10 mins per day
4 contracts 11 mins per day
5 contracts 12 mins per day
6 contracts 14 mins per day
Similarly the call rate calculation would mean that on a walk with 500 delivery points is 80% than with door to door into workload then an additional 3% ( 17 delivery points ) would need to be planned for.
The task of professionally presenting D2D items to each delivery frame should be allocated to an indivdual.
D2D items should be placed last into the prep frame after any walk sequenced or manual mails.
D2D sales are expected to ramp up as follows 4 items from the agreement 5 items from July and 6 items from January. There after greater volumes with d2d automation.
The delivery of the 1/6 th appoach means that rest day covers and reserves will have to perform the delivery of door to door.
In addition the Leaflet Company who are a go between for unaddressed items and supplies a lot of work to Royal Mail have confirmed that the current users of door 2 door in Royal Mail are concerned at the increase of door to door as if 5 items land on the mat of an address it may effect the current level of intrest and they want to montior closely to ensure this is montiored closely.
There are lots more guidelines which when I get time I will post .

Welcome back The Truth i was getting worried about you,Good post to comeback with though.
I will keep my counsel on why i think you have not been a regular poster lately as it is only my opinion and i could be wrong.
Doesnt look good at first glance but i will have to look at it a lot closer and longer to make an informed decision first.

14 mins to prep 6 items, i don't think so
And who says six is going to be the maximum, we have adverts already for free mails shots online before there is even an agreement, we are gonna be striking once again in the future no doubt, such a shame that the workforce can see this but our union leaders don't.

Quick bit of maths to see how and if its possible.AnotherLimey wrote:14 mins to prep 6 items, i don't think so![]()
Based on 500 call points
16% = 80 Slots
80 slots x 6 Leaflets = 480 leaflets to prep
480 leaflets in 14 minutes = 35 per minute. or 1 in just under 2 secs.
Possible if you had 1 D2D per slot - But IMO it does not take account of RSI and by the looks of it does not take into account that at the 6th item you'll have 5 items in already slowing you down.

Re: Door to Door into workload
Just done a quick calculation based on 500 del points and 6 items in 14 minutes.
1/6 of 500 = 83 x 6 = 498 items divide by 14 mins = 37 items a minute in full frame
That is some top 10%
Excuse me if my figures dont add up.

Do you have that in writing?
And what do we do when we only have 4mins of D2D into workload?,that will be a disastrous step backwards as far as "protecting full-time jobs" is concerned.

Re: Door to Door into workload
Just caught something - the agreed Prep test ATM is 25 per minute and now even the CWU want us to prep D2Ds at an even faster rate

Even worse they actually give you less time to prep 6 items per slot than 1 per slot. In effect the more you get the faster you have to prep.
The figures above give you 4 minutes for 1 so common sense would at least to me mean
6 items would be a minimum of 24 minutes (till they come prepacked)
5 Items 20 Minutes
4 Items 16 Minutes
3 Items 12 minutes
2 items 8 Minutes.

Re: Door to Door into workload
On one of the walks I cover, the frame has about 3/4 with two drops per slot. It's a nightmare putting in door to doors. You have to pull out the letters to put the two sets of door to doors in. Has anyone got a better way of prepping this kind of frame? The fame's a nightmare even without door to doors.
