WHAT AFTER THE BALLOT??

How will people react after the ballot towards the union...... Now call me a pesermist if you wish but i fear the worst here, and believe it's going to squeeze through, after talking to people in transport, processing etc and considering the fact that people have been financially (lump sums) and frightened (even by our so called union) to vote in favour of this deal..... As i am in delivery i feel we have been the lamb to the slaughter and totaly sold out by the union. I have been an active trade unionist all my working life and feel in two minds regarding comming out of the union. But i feel that i do not want to be a part of this union any longer after they failed us regarding pensions in 2007 (bragging they had seperated the pension issue drom other grevances then allowing RM to slash our entitlements) and have now recomended and championed a deal which leaves it's members in delivery £20 worse off, later starts, no delivery span time limits etc etc...... What are other forum members going to do as sadly the way i feel towards the union leadership i'm OUT

There is going to be a big decision for some people Cheetah, do they stay in and try to do 2 things.

1, Work with the agreement and try to get the best they can with the hand they have been dealt, or

2, Try and change the direction of the union from within.

Or take the other option and decide the union has gone past repair, no longer looks after their interests and withdraw.

The problem is it's always difficult to change the dirrection of any large establishment such as the union, but i don't feel any one in authority within the union is on our side..... Reps who have always supported us have completely turned from their original stance regarding the deal ,and we have no support from within for a fair deal, they know its garbage for delivery, yet the stance seams to be be gratefull you have a job, not the answer i expect from union reps.

When we were on strike last year the press was saying we were on strike over money and the union said this wasn't the case. Yet how come their main selling point on this new deal is the £400 lump sum, the £20.63 and the £1,000's of pounds we're meant to be getting and the 7% pay rise over 3 years.

Does the union really think the bullying and do what they want attitude will change with this deal? will Royal Mail really keep to their side of the deal??

I think the union must enjoy a good joke to Steviea34 looking at the deal they want us to agree to. When is Jeremy Beadle gonna come out from behind a door and say it's been a prank? I think it was funny the deal that got put to us but to have the union saying we should vote yes.........that's just made my sides split.
