BALLOT DATE EXTENDED!

Business Transformation Agreement - Ballot Timetable Extended Until 27th April 2010

The purpose of this LTB is to advise Branches that we have extended the ballot timetable until Tuesday 27th April 2010.

The decision to extend the timetable has been taken because it was brought to our attention that a number of ballot papers were delayed in the system.

We would ask all Branches to use this LTB as a workplace notice and ensure the new closing date is brought to the attention of all relevant members.

We would also ask Branches to make every effort to ensure members use their vote.

Stuck in Spain so that is good news for me. Called them this afternoon and there were no plans to extend the deadline. Still voting NO if i get back home in time. PS. Costing me a fortune being stuck out here. Still getting a nice suntan though!!!!

Was just wondering has this ever happened before,can't remember off top of my head a ballot deadline being extended before,especially after taking so long to action in first place.Any conspiracy theorys .

Yes it has happened before. No one should read anything into it.

Remember the fact that most of the South West and Wales Regions work was still in East London mail centre late last week. In addition all Royal Mail planes have been grounded which has delayed the operation due to the volcano ash issue. Plus the fact is that for the first time a dvd was posted in with the ballot papers and some recieved the dvd without the ballot papers and have now been sent a new ballot paper.

Why rush a ballot ? The ballot has now been extended to the Tuesday which allows a few more people to cast their vote.

Don't panic. The ballot deadline could be extended to Xmas and there'd still be some too lazy to cast their vote

Dingo why not just put the agreement in with the ballot so people can read it and make an informed decision, its how this union always used to work, I've no problem with a DVD going in with it, but just to have the DVD and no agreement is imo wrong, its the start of a slippery slope, who can believe in the year 2010 we send out ballot papers without the agreement, that people are voting on, is this modernisation

No it is not, CWU rules need to be altered so this sort of thing should never happen again.

Maybe that's why there are rumours of a low turnout Big Daz, not everyone is as sad as us on RMC and if you get a DVD telling you whats going to happen, and nothing in with the ballot papers to read, or help you make up your mind, you assume that its a forgone conclusion, so why bother

Hopefully it isn't indicative of many here but one in my office just thought it was Union junk and threw it in the bin not realising it was the ballot paper, daft I know but he did it!
Another hasn't received his at all that's at least 2 No votes not going through.
