leighton used to run asda and if he has his way we will be paid according to "market forces" ie as there is so much unemployed/underemployed it will be a race to the bootom.you will either have the situation where everyone is part time on a shoestring wage or as in my previous days of working for a supermarket you will get a fairly average wage but have to put in 80 hours a week to earn it.If we don't stand up now we will almost certainly go down the slippery slope to asda/tesco style wages something I dread to see happen.All the proposals such as teamworking,6 covering 5,cap on door to doors etc are pointing in that direction.

That sounds about right. You've got to look at the way things are being shifted from post offices to WH Smith as well. Also, losing this strike makes it easier for them to push more things through in the future (along with attacks on other public sector workers).

If Leighton gets his way most of the workforce will be made up of agency workers who will work for far less and can be switched off as required. He won`t have to pay them sick pay, holiday, etc either.

I have worked an an area that relied heavily on agency casuals and the service almost collapsed as a result,as you probably seen on the dispatches programme.If royal mail was like that across the whole country it wouldn't be long before there was no more postal service,you will have to drive down to the sorting warehouse in your 4x4 to collect your mail once a week,probably what dumb and dumber are planning.
