pda in van sharing

i have heard when we change over to van sharing only one of us will be gettin a PDA for specials tracked etc what happens if your up one end of the street and ye partner is round the corner as the other postie got to use the delivery card come on royal mail you our saying right tools for the job why not give 2 PDAS out

what i'd hope to do is go round with all the things that require knocking on doors first, and get rid of them, then you fly round with the rest.

it depends on the duty,this is the problem with park n loop
with some duties it works out as a good system,on some it just doesnt work
so a nice main door duty with plenty of parking is great
a city centre duty with all flats and no parking isnt

sd items should be planned to go on zonal drivers which just leaves cdv duties doing rd and packets. this is currently happening in west london offices using cdv.

in my old office there were 2 'van' duties for the business calls
everything on the walks went in the P&L

Been told to write the tracked no; on the card , then punch the number into my partners pda on return to van for next loop

I just wish my pda would last 4 hours let alone the predicted 5 hours +. I am having to suspened comms so the battery lasts and it still scans.

Where are they all plugged in at the DO? Hope the fuse box can cope, we ain't got room for them all in the locker, so, I'd love to know where they'll stick em, hopefully in the DOMs office, as not much happens there!

It's a cabinet in the RLE in my office which can hold about 100 PDAs so they don't take up too much space and they don't use that much power (12v charger from the van).

we in liverpool havnt started the van sharing yet can someone tell me if you also cover the collections or is this just another silly rumour

Depends on your duty structures,it's not a 'you definitely have to do it' thing,but it could be built in because of later starts,depends a lot on your area tbh.
