1 DAY DOOR TO DOOR DELIVERY

Just had 2 weeks off and started back on monday, anyhow I have to have my 1st bag delivered to my house as I am only on a 20 hour contract and since last year got moved off my walk of 3 years onto a longer walk so always incurring overtime. Now on a monday with my 1st bag I also get all my door to door material for the rest of the week, only this week nothing1 so assumed no d2d for this week great!!! until that is friday when I get the surprise of all my d2d for the week, so end up being 55 mins over my time, went in to see my new line manager this morning to claim 2 hrs overtime for this week only to have what seemed like an interragation over 1st letter times last letter times etc , then to be told that my overtime will be scaled down due to me finishing 15 mins early on monday and because of (get this) being over for doing my d2ds I told him that I thought this was unfair as I should have had 5 days to clear these but he wouldnt listen to me and told me that i was being paid for my d2ds and if i didnt like it to see my union.What can i do

The more I think about this, the crazier it seems.

Someone else bundles your letters, and bags them up? I honestly couldn't work like that. I like my bundles a certain way. I like to do my packets a certain way.

So do you know how heavy your bags are, or even how many bags there are?

When I first started I did most of my door to doors in one day, and got my arse kicked.

This just isn't right.

I've never heard of anything as daft as this.

What do you do with all the door to doors? Where do you unbox them...sort them?

No have to take out enough everyday although sometimes get a load shoved in different bags

with the hours that i do the only time i get is for delivery eg 4 hours a day including 20 minute break pouching off etc so somebody else does the prep work although the number of times when i used to go into the office and finish off the last 30 mins and try and get my bags out on time doesnt need going into hence having my bags delivered to my home negates this problem. Yes i do like my bundles and packets done a certain way but get different people doing this everyday so you do get loads of missorts,mistakes etc drives me off my head somedays.
But getting off track here my point is the fact that lino will be deducting my overtime due to finishing early on monday (banking hours ?) and the thing that is getting up my nose because of doing d2ds which should have been over 5 days but had to do it in 1 day (although this was sorted into my mail because they knew that i wouldnt take it out otherwise)

There's plenty on these forums about withholding overtime payments, which I think is illegal. It's been stated that banking hours is optional although I don't know if thats true. There's been no banking in my office.

If you are in the union I'd see your rep asap. Being bullied into doing all door to doors in one day is outrageous.

What you could have done is rang your manager at the earliest opportunity, and told him that due to the workload you won't be able to get finished on time, ask him what he would like you to do. If you've got 3.5 hrs to deliver your mail and 20% door to doors, then its unreasonable to expect you to do 100% in the same time.

I'd go to see the manager and tell him OK, this time you'll accept the 15mins deducted from your overtime, but you will show no goodwill from now on, and you will finish at your proper finish time. It would mean leaving undelivered mail somewhere, and he'd have to get it delivered somehow.

I am in the union and i will be seeing my rep about this but i am still dealing with another matter from january when deliveries at our office were cancelled due to black ice told to make my time up the rest of the week.
Why do managers have to piss people off so much, not so long ago i would have let this go as i will be getting a nice whack from the polling cards so why argue over the odd half hour ? because i have had enough from this company and the way it treats its workers, in the past i have bent over backwards for them (although now it feels more like bending over forwards), but no more even though there is still some of the old linos that still try to treat you in the right way but the new breed i really can't get on with. Example lino "why didn't you phone on monday to ask were your d2d were ?" me " because i dont get d2ds every week" lino " yes you do " me " no i dont" lino " yes you do " me " no i dont, i do this walk every week" lino " you should have still called " me " look its not my fault " lino " its no body's fault" me " yes it is, its the person who left them under my frame all week !" lino " we didnt get them until wednesday " so what would be the point of phoning on a monday.

Someone (lino I think) ghost signs me in all the time as I'm notoriously bad at remembering to do it myself.On the odd occasion I remember I go to the book and I'm already signed in!

Already put a note asking about this extra payment on my claim sheet, i am sure someone will correct me but i think that if they arrive after wednesday it is an extra 40%, but i expect this to be ignored as i believe it will a be a case of just being left under my frame all week until noticed.

In our do the managers don't let you prep d2d at the office (although this is obviously changing under the new terms). The instructions have always been clear:
"D2D must be taken home and prepped in your own time!" Everyone has been doing that since I started there, just under 4 years ago. I've seen newstarts get pulled by dom's for prepping their d2d at the frame and told they're supposed to take them home on a Saturday and do the inserts over the weekend, then bring in their 20% for delivery each day.
