Part timers hours!

The part timers in my office have been told that their hours are going to change to accomodate a longer working day on a Saturday. This means the time they're given to deliver the mail Monday through Friday will be cut and the hour and 45 minutes being added to Saturday. The Union rep said the manager can do this as they are still working their 30.5 hour contract. How can our union rep agree to take time off a part timer to deliver the mail through the week? If this goes through they'll start on us full timers next, making us work for free!!!! Any advise I can pass on I will!

you attendance times were set out for full timers in phase 2 of fleixability if your DOM tryes to change them he'll be breaking the agreement!! It might not have it set out for part timers, but certainly the princaple is the same, i don't think your DOM can just change attendance times like that. Get your Rep to register a disagreement and contact the Area rep. In the mean time i would continue to work the attendance times that you had prior to your DOM changing them. You could also point out to your DOM that the interim agreement still stands at the moment and you believe that this amounts to EA without even bothering to go throught the IR framework.

Our union rep also told them on their own without us full timers there. He said it doesn't involve the full timers so they didn't need to be in the meeting.
I told the part timer to get in touch with our area rep.

Surely many of your part-timers are only part time beacause the hours suited them ie family commitments etc. So they wouldnt have picked a job with Royal Mail on the hours they were given if it didnt suit them. Mind you many now a days find its the only job they can get so will just go along with what ever Royal Mail say just to keep a job.

do managers have the power to give u a better contract but they dont? because they have bonus budgets??

there yearly bonus is probably 3 times my wages in the year 6k a year im on 22 hours a week

Sounds like decent advise you gave them to contact the area rep.
I don't think your unit rep knows what hes talking about.
You could try sending a pm to one of the 3 wise men Dingo, Lovejoy or the truth. They should be able to tell you for certain if they have the time.
