Indeed it was postman and a pity my own Branch N/Lancs & Cumbria couldn't have taken the time to explain to its members why the decision to recommend a NO vote was taken and still no meetings have taken place and the vote is already underway.

Well, all i can say Hello anybody home?, where the f**k is the politcial officer? He/She should be telling them that parliment has to vote in favour of scrapping saturday deliveries

Any case for Monday to Friday must be taken to the political arena not the regulatory arena!!!

What about the job losses that would happen on top of RM allready have planned?

What about the drop in membership fees

My understanding from the Branch, was that those in favour of the agreement said the no voters should give other alternatives and that’s why they wanted to show another way of thinking.

Of course I think they know it would have need Parliament to agree the change however it would need first for both the Union, Royal Mail and the Regulator to be pushing for the change to the Universal Service. Every Sat off verses 1in 4 I know what I want

There would be job losses with this idea but no more than the current RM plans to shed thousands of them over the next 3 years. There is no real desire by the public for sat deliveries and those who want them would have to pay for the premium service.

I don’t think they felt it was the only way of thinking but we need to think outside the box to deliver something different.

I think geopip has explained the thinking behind saturdays very well and allayed my fears that KI branch had not grasped the political aspect to Saturday delveries ceasing and introducing a new premium service instead.
