Uniform tax relief/rebate?

read elsewhere on another forum that you can get tax relief/refund/rebate for washing you works uniform?

any ideas

Not quite true. Historically the tax office used to check what you were entitled to but they have long since stopped doing this and it's down to the taxpayer to get their tax information right.

If you've worked for the RM for a long time it's probably in your tax code, if not it probably won't be unless you have asked for it.

I did say 'should',we had some correspondence from RM regarding this a few years ago.

Now what should our tax codes be then we can have a look and see if we're getting it.

For the record mine says 0659L tax period 52 if that helps.

I am,but that tax thing went yonks ago,looking at yours,you probably do not have the cleaning rebate on there.

Also,when you get your yearly tax notice there is a bit detailing the tax free sum rm and the tax office agree you need to do the job.Pretty sure the uniform rebate is in this concession.

Just write and ask them if its been applied, if it hasn't they will adjust your code accordingly. i just did it, its worth about £150 a year but every little helps and i'd rather it was in my pocket than the tax man
