Golfers elbow

Hi, have been told by my GP that I have golfers elbow. Got to the point of really bad pain on Sunday so went to the docs on Monday. He says not to use the arm to let it recover otherwise the tendonitis will be aggravated and could lead to permanent damage. Haven't used it for the past 2 days but it seems to be getting worse. I am off work at the moment. Has anyone had this before and could give a rough idea of how long it would take to heal, more importantly, what a safe level of usage would be without causing permanent damage. The doctor told me to not use it and do everything with my left arm so he has no idea what is involved in this job, taking off a bag to pull out a bundle, untie, bag back on shoulder with one arm, I don't think so.

usually you should recover after "FORE" days , and when you return to work, you should wear two pairs of trousers -
incase you get a HOLE in ONE !!

Tennis elbow might have been more appropriate as I LOVE my job and wouldn't want to take ADVANTAGE. I should take as long as is necessary though I may have to grow a set of those NEW BALLS I keep hearing about. An appropriate saying might be Stewie Griffins "What the DEUCE"

Is it your bundle carrying arm?

Yes I suffer from double tendonitis, aka tennis and golfers elbow. Rest does help it, unfortunately as soon as you start carrying the bundle again it flares up again. The inflammation can be controlled with Ibuprofen or any other over the counter anti inflamitory drug. Really bad cases can be injected with cortizone. I wouldn't recommend this unless you really need it. It's a bloody painful injection to get done and aren't supposed to use your arm for a couple of days afterwards. I've had it once and try to stick with the pills now

Thanks mazza, it isn't my bundle carrying arm which I suppose is a blessing. It's just my Doctor worried me when he said prolonged use and abuse of the condition will lead to permanent tendon damage and no job is woth that. Did you have time off initially? Is it just a case of pain at varying degrees that you will have to put up with.

Throwing off nearly six hundred door to doors every single day will surely cause tendon damage, RSI ETC. Also such a burdening workload would mean I would not get home till tee time.

when i suffered the same problem it took a good 12 months to be pain free again and my doctor advised me to wear a magnetic bracelet.
it seemed to work but i kept getting stuck to all the metal garden gates i went through
