ELECTION ITEMS ON LAPSED DUTIES

Who does them in your office?

The reason i ask is because in our office we lapse two duties on a permanent basis now.

The person who preps the delivery also preps the D2D'S and it is this person who gets paid for them.

Now although this is probably wrong, most people in the office 'just get on with it, as it saves them the hassle of prepping the D2D'S and they just deliver the 20-30 or so items for free'

However our manager has said this is also the way we are going to deliver the election items on the lapsed walks, any thoughts on how i can challenge this?

Not rocket science- Prep of normal mail done as usual, people performing del of lapsed either prep their own into frame or take out what
they need and deliver as they would on regular walk - i sometimes wonder how we as a business got into this state then i just read
some of the answers on here & mystery solved

Can a union rep or an area rep or even someone with the info at their disposal please tell me that I was right in saying we do not have to deliver election material. We are not allowed to claim OT when we take them out and if we go over so that would make them voluntary. If that is the case then simply tell the dum that you aren't delivering them.

You get paid for what you deliver,end of: At our place it was a real ballache as the PHG who did the d2d payment just used to split the payment between however many lapsed it, so we got like 80p each, but some had like 15 drops and some had 77 drops, its only pennies but thats not the point really is it.

In our office we prep our own D2D for our lapsing, then we all write on a sheet of paper what sections of the frame we did and how many doors, pay numbers etc. We get paid for what we do. One of the only things in our office that works!

Correct me if im wrong, but if there is two duties lapsed ,would the people whos duties these actually were before lapsing not be entitled to do this election stuff. Assuming they are now leave reserves and may miss out on money because they might be on different duties each day, or would thes duties not be put back in that week as traffic figures would surley be up , due to the addressed election lit.

The more I read these forums the more I realise that I'm in a very reasonable office, where very few stupid things are done. Lapsing notwithstanding.

Anyway, in my office, whoever preps the lapsed walk preps everything, door to doors, poll cards, everything. He gets paid nothing just his hourly wage. Each person who delivers part of the lapsed duty claims for the number of houses done. There is a form to fill in to say how many leaflets, door to doors etc you have delivered.
