Delivery of fascist election material?

According to our WTL session today there is no longer a 'conscience clause' for operatives regarding the handling & distribution of election material for the likes of the BNP. Did the CWU endorse this? As someone with deeply held anti-fascist values obviously I am loathe to even give this kind of propaganda the time of day; in previous elections I have just thrown it all in the surplus pile as generally all of their stuff comes through unaddressed. Anyone got any pointers in case my DOM starts giving me heat?

BTW "Coloured" is not very precise is it. The accepted term and one I prefer is Black, or Afro-Caribbean. After all even White people are coloured - in fact despite the description Black or White neither group is in fact that colour.

I have no love for the BNP but they are a legitimate political party and we do live in a democratic society so we shouldn't be able to pick and choose what party we want to deliver fliers for. They must all be treated the same it's not our place to help or hinder any party no matter what our feelings might be towards them.

On the basis of the phrase "Know thine enemy" I believe we have a responsibility to distribute all political material with equal care. It is not for us as postal workers to censor the information on which the electorate makes it's decisions.

I do not and never would support the BNP or for that matter the watered down version of them personified by UKIP, but if I disagreed with any party's views I would not expect an exemption from delivering their publicity material on those grounds.

People who do not even want to read what they have to say are free to use their recycling facility without even opening the leaflets, but by doing that they will never find out how unpleasant the BNP really is.

Look at it this way - if they are paying to have leaflets delivered it is diverting their funds from their recruitment drive only to have the investment wasted on a public with enough intelligence to ignore them - so help them go broke.

What so refusing Conscientious Objectors the right to vote, when they refuse to serve in the "National Service" is a Democratic Policy - One of the BNP ones from their Manifesto for the Euro Elections.

Lets hope they have changed that otherwise IMHo they cannot be truly considered as a party with Democratic credentials.

you misunderstood, I'm not saying the bnp are democratic (far from it) just that in a democratic society everybody's views should be heard, however repellent, be that of the left or right. Otherwise how can we judge them?

i find the socialist workers party abhorrent! should i refuse to deliver them? hell no, give me the money.

That is your choice obviously, we have a person in our office refusing also, no problems, he will have to do a
different delivery for a few days (RIGHTLY SO)whilst someone else delivers them on you walk -
problem solved - SIMPLES

Fascism is usually accepted as "a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology" but does the BNP fit that definition ?
