Yes Vote From Me
Up until yesterday i was going to be a no voter, i do not work in deliveries but collect the collections from a small D.O. out in the west country, I asked one of the postman who works at this D.O. what he reckoned of the deal, he said that it was crap and that he will be voting no, i then asked him him if he was willing to go on strike over the deal, he said that his office has never been on strike and that he was only voting no as a protest.
so that would mean i would be forced out on strike over issue's that this person and office are not prepared to support with IA. just wondering how many other office's there are in the UK like this one?

Re: Yes Vote From Me
So you are suddenly voting YES because one person you spoke to voted no and you did not like his explanation or a single office's actions?
You need a better reason than that to vote either YES or NO!

No chance of that, the Rep said today if it was a No vote more strike action would not be an option!driverjoe wrote:Up until yesterday i was going to be a no voter, i do not work in deliveries but collect the collections from a small D.O. out in the west country, I asked one of the postman who works at this D.O. what he reckoned of the deal, he said that it was crap and that he will be voting no, i then asked him him if he was willing to go on strike over the deal, he said that his office has never been on strike and that he was only voting no as a protest.

WE decide if we want to strike, not the CWU.REDLETTER wrote:No chance of that, the Rep said today if it was a No vote more strike action would not be an option!driverjoe wrote:Up until yesterday i was going to be a no voter, i do not work in deliveries but collect the collections from a small D.O. out in the west country, I asked one of the postman who works at this D.O. what he reckoned of the deal, he said that it was crap and that he will be voting no, i then asked him him if he was willing to go on strike over the deal, he said that his office has never been on strike and that he was only voting no as a protest.

Then the person you were speaking to is not a Union Supporter, he may be a member but not going on strike when a democratic vote has decided we should is not showing support. However, the reasons for his vote and his actions in the past should not decide the vote for you. Everyone has to make a personal decision based on their own circumstances and decide if the proposed agreement meets with their aspirations and approval and if the sacrifices made, or being made, are worth the benefits gained to the individual or to the CWU as a whole.
In essence make your own mind up - do not let others actions or words sway you one way or the other. Yes take them in account but the decision is ultimately yours.

Re: Yes Vote From Me
Got a No vote from me. Money isn't the issue. For me it's about our office being bullied and harrassed constantly for years. We have a **** of a manager as i've said before. I really do not have any believe in a fair workload. Some of our rounds are 5hrs long. We are still locking horns with management when working to time. Sorry a leopard doesn't change their spots. Also he hasn't put jobs up on the board for 5years. He's ignored the intrim agreement on that when people leave the company who had own rounds. Even out regional rep said he is the problem in your office.

Vote yes if you think it's a good deal but don't try to justify it with something as petty as this, everyone's got different views and some are completely illogical as you say but don't seek to generalize all d.o's opinions and morals on the basis of one conversation with one spineless worker.
When we were balloted for IA in my office we were told it was mainly about harassment and bullying and it was essential to get a yes vote. Fair enough,i've never been the victim of these things but i'll vote how my union recommends. Then we were told it was essential to go out on strike to put the union in a strong negotiating position. Our office was solid and a number of us picketed throughout and persuaded the few undecided not to go in.
The CWU thanked us for our support and declared what a strong negotiating position it had put them in! Then we find out they've negotiated us a big pay cut. My point is many D.O staff took industrial action with not muych thought that we would benefit individually but we didn't expect to lose either. Bigger picture or not surely it's easy to understand why we're pissed off at the deal.
On another note, let's not hear any more of this vote rigging stuff, the result of the ballot will be a straightforward count of yes or no votes, even if one side has pushed it's propaganda machine to the brink of fairness.

surely not the same driverjoe?driverjoe wrote:i work in a voc, the mood with the 100 hgv driver's i work with is not to strike, the rep has been going through the duties ready for a resign. Can someone tell me why we should go out on strike for london, it seems london want to reverse everything that has happened in the last year, 4 day weeks on delivery? and working 1 day on s/a, when most of the country is on a 5 day week.
if a strike is called so near to xmas you could find that most office's will attend for work, do you really want to break the cwu.
