Modernization

Either I'm incredibly thick or Royal Mail are,but can someone please explain how we have become a modern progressive company?

Traditionally mail was delivered between 7am and 9am while most people were in to receive it,now we will deliver it when they get home.Is this modernization?

The extra work from trying to deliver recorded,special,tracked et al is mainly down to the fact that we deliver at a,quite frankly,inconvenient time for most people.Is this the way forward?

When the mail was delivered at a convenient time it was all done by hand,now machines make it inconvenient and later and later.

Now they want 4pm on a Saturday....a f***ing Saturday!!!!

How in the name of the wee man is this 'modern'?

"Modernisation" is just a word Royal Mail senior management bandy about, whilst busying themselves turning a once extremely reliable, completely efficient, very simple to manage national postal service, into one which by comparison, will be very poor.
Still, at least senior executives will be able to milk the company for all it's worth, eh?

has anyone else noticed, or is just my office ,that DOM's come in later and later in a morning?
Is this their way of getting used to what is eventually gonna be a 9-5 job?
MODERNIZATION. a way to get long term staff to jack the job in.

Where once the job was given a shine by excited kids waiting for you to bring their birthday cards and gifts or anniversary gifts and flowers for the adults now you just bring the flowers and gifts back,as they were not in, or drop the charge cards through the door because yet another doting granny has paid 4p too little because there is a badge in the card.

you know politicians and big business like to use the word Modernization when it comes to making people redundant and adding more work for the same pay but when it comes to them they completely ignore it, look at politics for example, how many politicians do we have running our lives? we have local councillors, regional councillors, euro mp`s and westminster mp`s, so enough of the Modernization bull s&*t start with the top bosses and politicians and that should produce enough savings for a lifetime

modernization,means more work less pay,working longer,poor conditions,all of which is being endorsed by the CWU and royal fail

So many customers comment/complain about how much later they get their mail these days,then they hear Royal Mail and politicians talk of the need to "modernize" Royal Mail. Ironically the customer thinks doing such will get them their mail earlier again when it's this very "moderization" that has made it so late and will make it even later in the future!

It's sad to see such a poor service provided these days and even sadder to be involved in providing it!

Just taken all but 3 of the remaining night duties from our office in the name of modernisation (cuts to you and I) and were failing everyday. Today saw 2 yorks of mailsort/2nd class and all the (2 yorks) missort run left behind and thats just from 2 postcodes. They also want to absorb duties on top of this but cant as there isnt enough staff to prep the vacant duty.

Now they are saying its not because the night shift has gone, its because the work isnt getting segged early enough and fast enough so they want us in at 530am instead of 620am! Drivers have been asked to come in earlier to do IPS too and cut half an hour off their delivery.

I see the equation:

A. why take out nights

B. Why did they move us from 5am starts in the first place.
= idiocy

Really getting fed up with working for Royal Mail now...its getting worse and worse as every week goes by. Even the managers are saying they dont care anymore. Just do what you can and if it cant be done it gets left.

I really dont know whats going to happen if this new deal goes through as it gives the go ahead for massive cuts on a scale we havent seen before.

Worried about the future.
