Jury Service

If you are on jury duty do you have to attend work on Saturday?

I doubt you do if you've been in court the whole week.

You could aways argue that you have done a 5 day week as jury service so Saturday is your day off :dance

Or what if I don't turn up to court on Thursday as it's my day off?

Yes, tell the court that you are sticking to your day off and see what they do. :nana :nana :nana

I did jury service for 5 weeks, Monday to Friday. As I had done my 5 days work asking me to work on the Saturday would have been the same as asking me to work my day off.
I was never asked and enjoyed 5 glorious weekends in the summer. :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana

All i can say is you got away with it. :Applause :shhhhh
Did you get Royal Mail to fill in a Certificate of Loss of Earnings? or did they just pay you as normal?
You cannot claim loss of earnings for your day off...that would be fraud.
It is possible your DOM simply put you through as mon-fri to make it easier for both him and you. :hmmmm

I got paid as normal then got expenses for meals and travel from courts.
The Saturday issue was never mentioned by my then DOM.
The only thing mentioned was that if the court didn't need me on any particular day that I would need to go to work.
This was about five years ago so perhaps it is different now.

I've always managed to get out of jury duty :Very Happy Get yourself a Star Trek uniform and wear it when you go in (and occasionally talk into your clam shell mobile phone) and they'll be glad to send you home. Or if you want you could say 'hang them all' and that will get you off too..............but I prefer the Star trek uniform because I am nuts    Image

That's not jury service.
They are studying the menu of options for 1 in 4 Saturdays off.
The two dudes are already on the phone to the Divisional rep because they can't make head or tail of it.
