Weeks after a yes vote

Post by kendo1 »

Whilst I will be voting NO if AND WHEN i get a ballot paper,I expect the result to be a Yes Vote to the agreement,by hook or by crook.
What do you think the initial changes will be days or weeks after it is announced with, being as realistic as possible!

Will we be flooded with D2D ?
Will our deliveries be substantialy longer overnight?
Will hour working hours alter drasticaly on a Day to day basis?
What If ETC?
Please try to be as realistic and calm as possible

Thanks.

D2D need to be printed and booked in advance.
I don't think we will be flooded overnight.

None of these things will happen so quickly.
Over the next few years, D2D will increase. Flooded? Maybe in the end, but by then RM will automate them, I doubt they will pay us nearly a tenner an hour to prep them.
Our deliveries, hopefully, will be manageable for the time we get for completing them. The problem will be the same as always, the rush hour brigade will get done so early every day and the managers think all the duties are under their time.
I can't see our working hours being very different from a day to day basis. Due to a standardised 6 day week, D2D in workload, delivery methods and breaks.

Initially a bigger bank balance followed by a year or 2 of less than current take home pay.
kendo1 wrote:Will we be flooded with D2D ?
IMHO - No
kendo1 wrote:Will our deliveries be substantialy longer overnight?
No unless you have a weak Union presence and WSM hitting you soon.
kendo1 wrote:Will hour working hours alter drasticaly on a Day to day basis?
Only Saturdays and then only after your next revision
kendo1 wrote:What If ETC?
Sorry cant think of any

Always - painting too bad a picture on the impact of any agreement is just as bad as painting too good a picture. Much prefer a reasoned balance that shows good points as well as bad points - just like my blog. http://overpaidunderworked.blogspot.com ... d-and.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Will we be flooded with D2D ? No, Contracts are booked in advance wether they be with us TNT or the local papers, I expect that it will take a few months. Are customer suddenly going to make a mad dash for RML just because we have lifted the cap? I doubt they will. What we need to know is how many contracts were turned down last year due to the cap, we have the finances of work turned down but the actual contracts we have not been given details of.

Will our deliveries be substantialy longer overnight? No, Revison activity will alter them

Will hour working hours alter drasticaly on a Day to day basis? Not unless the mail levels are going to suddenly do the same, longs and shorts is about making hours match workload by not having to many or too little hours on each day.
What If ETC? Will managers become angels over night, some will some wont, it is important the CWU get hold of those who drag their heels and do what ever it takes to sort them out, no touchy feely crap, hardcore action that scares senior managers into giving their underlings a bloody big kick up the backside!!

Credible first steps, I will take a credible first step but if my DOM dosent take one with me,then I will not take any more.

Realistically?

There will be very little initial changes. The revisions will have to take place and the tools for the job, HCTs and CDV transport ferried from that field where there are 10,000 parked up waiting to be deployed - I must get the google earth address and pick one out for myself.

The revision can only take place after we know what the revision tools are and the workshops have taken place and geo route applied after call rates have been agreed but of course there will not be any dallying in implementing the change as BOTH parties have agreed on that very issue.

Will the tools for the job materialise - well that is a matter of trust, will we be expected to go ahead before these are in place - NOT according to the agreement but of course that is a matter of trust, will the revision be lead by financial constraints - well NOT according to a joint statement by the CWU and RM and there again it is a matter of trust.

When each unit changes begin will depend entirely on how far ahead the revision process has already progressed, without CWU input of course BUT should not be rolled out until agreed and any problems will be sorted out at local level according to the agreement without interruption to service, ahem, but if there is no agreement then ACAS will mediate.

There WILL be winners and losers.

Realistically,IF the proposal gets through nothing will change until months down the line, which means it will probably be implemented around peak! pmsl

Frames will be collapsed/absorbed as duties are made bigger to accommodate 2 posties,a total logistical nightmare for whoever gets the task of sorting that one out.All these vans need to go somewhere, and if your DO is anything like mine space wise you might be looking at new premises,as I'll be damned if I know where they're going to fit them.

Depending on VR/EVR there will no doubt need to be a reshuffle of staff as well.Tbh I can see it being chaos for a while with no one really knowing what the hell is being implemented.

Looking forward to them working breaks into duty times also. Our DO is on possibly the busiest road in the area,so a 20 min break will easily become an hour with travel time.At least I'll get to put my feet up for a bit.

What makes you think you will be travelling anywhere to take a break?
You will have your break in the office before you leave as you always do. :hmmmm

Because it's in the proposal that time to allow you to return to the DO will be factored in.Do you think I'm taking a break then walking about for 5/6 hours?

it will feel like hell spawned on earth targeting postmen - managers attitudes will change and there will be overactive cwu reps trying to organise something that inactual fact is impossible - your blood will drain - you will fell overly stressed and concered - you will probably end up in a drunk stupor to get over it down the pub - you will know you have to find another job but are stuck - you will be working to 3pm on a satarday

Image

your mission if you choose to accept is to post unlimted d2d in under 3 hours
one day part timers will have the same right as full timers

Can't find that in any agreement i've got, this is all it states.
Appropriately scheduled meal breaks ( consistent with relevant working time legislation)
Relevant working time legislation is 20mins in 6hrs.

That's what I was meaning, although as far as I'm aware it's 15m for every 4 hour worked, hence returning to the DO.

if you are f/t i.e 8 hours, you are entitled to a 40min break. we take ours before we go out on delivery, all 40mins of it.

Direct.gov
Rest breaks - a break during your working day

As an adult worker (over 18), you will normally have the right to a 20 minute rest break if you are expected to work more than six hours at a stretch.
Although RM give you 40mins your legal entitlement under working time legislation is 20mins so i'm afraid it is unlikely you will be travelling back to your D.O for a break.
