One in four Saturdays off ?

Does anybody have any idea as to how this will work ? Just recieved my agreement summary and it states A minimum of one in four Saturdays off with the oppertunity to go beyond this.

our union rep was saying to us that he is trying to get some F/T onto 4 day week and some shorter hours P/T onto 3 day week, but I'm not sure how he's gonna get the DOM to agree to it tho

It will be down to your local rep to sort it out. it is important that this is not allowed to slip down the leg side, it is one of the bits that RM hates in the agreement.

one idea is to have a rotate that goes rest day Monday Tuesday WEdnesday Saturday Thursday Friday Saturday and so on.

Rember the agreement talks about the majority getting this and this is a key negotiating point. A four day week as we currently work gives you one in three off. Or a 9 day fortnight ie 2 days off one week and 1 day the following week.

They also talk about an increase in part timers so bring in Saturday AG's and go for every Saturday off.

one in 4 saturdays my arse we have trouble covering duties day to day...would like it but cant see this happening in our office

If its part of any agreement that might be brought in it needs to be followed up by local reps as like you say it will be allowed to be forgotten about !

Look, there will be no increase in headcount - Simples, the mythical four day week everyone keeps going on about
will need to be self financed. If you are lucky enough to still have 3.5 del spans then good luck. 4.5 hours are bad enough now
without increasing them further, so anyone fancy a 5.5 hr del & 10 hr shift on a Sat, anyway before someone goes banging
on about indoor work, machines are supposed to reduce this, no collections-cant merge, so tell me what are these innovative
structures

I'd like to have a Saturday off more than once every 12 months, can't see how they are going to make 1 in 4 materialise

Perhaps they are going to put us reserves on a rotating day off making 1 in 6 which I would be ok with, getting pissed off with having a Tuesday off nearly every week.

The agreement doesn't say we'd get 1 in 4 saturdays

1 in 4 saturdays in total tosh. If you have a weak office or union rep don't expect much to change.

so it it 1 in 4 or not?

In some circumstances this may be exceeded utilising jointly identified options to provide 1 Saturday off in 2 or 3.

That is what the agreement says.

If its good enough for London then roll it out Nationally (4 day weeks)

If not go for the 9 day fortnights
Get your Rep to look into self-financing
It does not have to be a local budget scenario (if i am reading other threads correctly)
Get in there .. Mon -Fri- casuals&others, poss o/t for those that want it
Cant wait to see the rest of the 9
